on brother I don’t know what’s in other folks mind , I just believe that scripture needs to be what interprets the scripture .

the way I see it the Old Testament is prophetic and the New Testament is revelation to understand the message in the old. so it sort of requires scripture to interpret scripture and not thinking without the revelation that’s there

like Paul taught the Old Testament is like trying to understand God while looking at him through a dark veil , but when one turns to the gospel there stands our Lord for all to see and know .

the law is to see God from this perspective

“And the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the Lord called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up. And the Lord said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the Lord to gaze, and many of them perish.

And Moses said unto the Lord, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it. And the Lord said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the Lord, lest he break forth upon them.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭19:20-21, 23-24‬ ‭

so the law appears as if you are looking at God from a far distance and can’t hear or see him there’s no real relationship between God and his people so they have carnal ordinances to observe that he doesn’t destroy them .

but Christ Jesus is like this

“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:27-30‬ ‭

so the law is heard like this

“Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, then we shall die.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭5:25‬ ‭

but the truth is , and Jesus speaks like this

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Christ Yeshua brings us into the full will of God by removing the veil of Moses. God's will is perfectly revealed by Christ Yeshua, who even elaborates FURTHER on the law of Moses, in the sermon of the mount, not abolishing anything thereof. If you looked at women with lust, you have already committed adultery with that women - therefor if you think of not honouring God's eternal Sabbaths, you have already broken God's Sabbath.

I’m yes because he is speaking from Old Testament scripture . He’s saying Joshua didn’t give them the rest God promises when they entered into the promised land . And that prophecy wouldn’t have promised the rest was yet to come if Joshua has given then the rest

so there remains a rest for Gods people , that rest is found in Christ.
We are not resting on six days, on the seventh, God's Sabbath, we rest :

2 Thessalonians 3 (KJV)

10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

Luke 23 (KJV)

56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Yes, but God's mercy does not give us free-pass to unrighteousness. Those born again will not be judged by their works, but are set free by the book of life, of the lamb that was slain. Those born again WILL DO ACCORDING TO GOD'S LAW, as they are a new creature - the one does not go without the other - God's will, as revealed in his law, is eternal.

If you were born twice (physically and eternally spiritually), you die once (physically, and not spiritually nor eternally). If you were born once (only physically), you die twice (physical and eternally).

Children of God are not lawless, and is synchronised to God's will, his law, as written on their hearts and minds, including resting on his Sabbath day.

Hebrews 8 (KJV)

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
um yea I’m not saying we have a free pass to sin . Brother what I’m saying is simple we Christians don’t follow
Moses law , we Christians follow the things Christ taught.

they are different as I’ve shown you very different and at many points contrary one is for the flesh and the other is for the spirit .

you aren’t understanding what I’m saying , probably my fault I’m not good at communicating in writing .

see adultery is sin whether one is in the ot or the nt. The difference in the testaments is one will not help you overcome adultery , the other will set you free from the conflict between the flesh which desires sin , and the spirit which is of God.

the law actually provokes sinners to sin . Because sinners have a rebellious part of thier nature

“Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the spirit is the gospel and the letter is the law . There are two different types of righteousness one of the law and one of God through the gospel listen to Paul here .

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19-22, 28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there is self righteousness that comes by the law and there is the righteousness of faith that is a gift of God only to those who will believe the true gospel .

the law can make a sinner act righteous , the gospel can change a sinner into a child of God with HIS law written on our HEARTS

which law here one from Moses law one from Christ’s word , which is meant to be written on the heart ?

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:27-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Do you understand what I’m saying ? If we follow the commands for the spirit , we won’t have the struggle that the law creates . If we fight the battle in our minds not allowing lustful thoughts , intentions , plots then adultery becomes something completely foreign to us , not a temptation but something that’s not in us

Moses can’t change the heart of a person and can’t write anything on anyone’s heart , if he could have the law would have been sufficient to save man and Christ would never have came and suffered and died but he did that to remove us from the law and teach us the ways of God

Exodus 31 (KJV)

16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
“But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:”

So if Christ Yeshua fulfilled that we should keep God's Sabbath, and "Thou shalt not murder" - Can we now murder, if you say we do not have to keep God's Sabbath? Christ Yeshua came to show us that God's law is love. To keep God's Sabbath is love for God, resting in God and Christ Yeshua - try it some time brother, it is very rejuvenating, its like a holiday every week.

How do you know what is sin, without the law of God, showing you what is sin? For sure Christ Yeshua has taken away our sins under the new covenant, but He did not remove the law - through God's law, we know what of our actions are sin. And He commands us to go sin no more. To sin no more, we need to know God's will, his commandments, his law.

“For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:12‬ ‭

brother a covenant is a law and the blood shed in accordance with the law , yes indeed the law changed .

that’s where we started remember ? Moses said if you are unhappy divorce your wife and then remarry , Jesus said no , only if there’s fornication can you divorce and to remarry is adultery if it’s for any other reason .

the new covenant is Jesus word and Jesus blood , the old covenant was Moses word and the blood Moses shed . We have a law and a mediator and a sacrifice and a priest and a Lord but it’s not Moses .

“Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭15:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s a message about Gods kingdom
And if one said what the message spoke it’s summed up like this

“And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:46-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The doctrine of this gospel for all nations is found here

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

people here we died to the law and then think there is no law , the truth is the covenant changed this means everything changed from the mediator to the word to the blood to the people. Even the promised land changed

‬‬it’s about having faith that God really did send the messiah , that the messiah really is Gods son , that Gods son really is God himself manifest fully to the world for salvation of all who put thier trust in him ,

to all who surrender thier heart to him who won it with his blood . when he stepped off his throne of glory , spoke the truth and said believe and be saved and then died for us on the cross rose up in victory over death and returned to glory having unwraveled the mystery of God and made it known for his believing children to have faith

If I ask you, to give me one word, to describe the commandments of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, what would that word be, love?
the commandments of God are what Jesus taught . What value would there be in demanding a one word answer ?

what your saying is a summary , what we are talking about , what you have said isn’t true here is that Jesus taught things totally contrary to moses . There is an Old Testament law and a New Testament law .

what does A one word answer have anything to do with what we’ve been discussing ?

can you acknowledge Jesus and Moses taught different laws ? Cause that was the subject I thought .

but sure brother if one wants a one line summary there’s a lot of those in scripture they just don’t provide any actual understanding of what those summaries mean here’s a scripture that would support your summary

“For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So if one is looking for a book title “ e law is love “ works but if someone is looking to know the lord and be saved the summary doesn’t really help

my only point to you was when you couldn’t acknowledge Moses and Jesus taught contrary teachings . To summarize my point there are two covenants in the Bible one came through moses and the other through Jesus Christ . We don’t follow
Moses law we follow the gospel

The covenant through moses given upon Sinai

“And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.

And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭24:7-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s a covenant the word first and then the blood. Moses law governs the old covenant, in accordance with the blood he shed for the people he interceded for. The children of Israel.

the new covenant came when Jesus began preaching the word of the gospel , he preached it all through Israel and told people to believe and be saved , and then he shed the blood of the new covenant enjoining his words to the people of all nations .

so you have the eternal word of Christ , the gospel

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and you have the blood shed for remission of sins under the old covenant

“For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:15-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We obediently like to keep God the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit's Sabbath day, and spent it in his rest. On that day we rest, as we will after death. On the other six, we labour as instructed by God the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 14 (ESV)

12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!"

2 Thessalonians 2 (ESV)

3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

You say you are in body, mind and spirit, resting from your labours everyday, and do not labour six of your seven to eat?

Seven out of seven Sabbaths you have?

Do not know if that is what God the Father and Son and Holy Spirit's word commands:

2 Thessalonians 3 (ESV)

10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

On the Sabbath, we, like Christ Yeshua, his mother and disciples did, like to rest, from our labours of making a living on the other six.

Revelation 14 (ESV)

12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

On the Sabbath, we like to rest, from our labours of making a living on the other six.

Revelation 14 (ESV)

12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.
I do not labor for my salvation, no. All has been accomplished by Christ, and I have faith in His finished work.

Nobody labours for their salvation. We work for a living, six days a week. We are saved by God's grace through his gift of faith, therefor we like to spend time in God's holy presence, as part of the good works he prepared for our lives.

If you had custody of a child you love, for one day each week, will you say - nah, I would not like to spend that day only with him/her - because he/she is in my mind everyday, while I'm busy doing my work 24x7 ?

Ephesians 2 (ESV)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Plenty of people add works to faith to gain/maintain salvation, and say we must do likewise also.

Your example is questionable at best. I already said, I rest in the Lord EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Debating on ChristianChat is not resting in the Lord, its a labour for his cause! I refrain from these type of conversations on the Sabbath day.

Lawlessness is the absenteeism of God's commands, as is the absence of repentance for breaking the Sabbath, which is a love for God commandment.

You are free to be lawless. Obeying God is not for salvation. If you are saved, you realise God's commandments, you obey, and where you falter, you repent. If you refuse to obey God's commandments, nor repent - you do not have salvation, but that is you and God's business, not mine. Do not judge me for being saved by the grace of God, through the blood of Christ Yeshua, and wanting to obey God's commandment of resting solely in his presence on his Sabbath holy day (set-apart).

I did not say it was. Nor is being on Christian Chat working for my salvation ;)

What is your point exactly? More a rhetorical question, as I know your type.

... Some believers from the party of the Pharisees stood up and declared, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses.” So the apostles and elders met to look into this matter.

After much discussion, Peter got up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you that the Gentiles would hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, showed His approval by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as He did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, for He cleansed their hearts by faith.

Now then, why do you test God by placing on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? On the contrary, we believe it is through the grace of the Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

Would you like to murder someone, even if it is just with your words?

My thoughts have gone there in the past. Haven't yours, ever?

The more I find myself in Him, the less I am prone to such.

You don't seem to understand rest. Pity.
