1. I never stated I keep the law now have I? So who is accusing who here?
2 Disrespect? Since when is the truth disrespect? Keep up on the conversation my friend.

It’s not My fault people Can not keep on topic. The topic I have been discussing is the topic of what it looks like to keep the sabbath according to the law as posed by my brother @mailmandan in which he asked a question to People who insist we Must Keep the sabbath and all he got was flick and disrespect himself

Stating the truth is not disrespect
My friend. It May hurt. But it’s not disrespect If stating the truth is disrespect the Bible is very disrespectful
But just like me you are claiming to follow Jesus who said if you hate somebody you have committed murder. You know I love you and care for you as a fellow brother in Christ. All I am saying is we can all make some changes on how we address each other. I am also guilty :)

People see the word command and automatically assume law

I think this is the disconnect!
So what is John talking about? The Greek lexicon teach me

  1. an order, command, charge, precept, injunction
    1. that which is prescribed to one by reason of his office
  2. a commandment
    1. a prescribed rule in accordance with which a thing is done
      1. a precept relating to lineage, of the Mosaic precept concerning the priesthood
      2. ethically used of the commandments in the Mosaic law or Jewish tradition
What am I missing?

1) Abraham was a Hebrew and so are we because we cross over from the world back to YHVH.

2) So now we can discard everything about the commandments and love one another? The wages of sin is death. I know I will receive my wages just like everyone that will die before our King returns even if they love each other to the moon and back.

The commandments of God is love because He is love.

3) If Jesus did it and it was good enough for Him, I can try to do it. If I am wrong I have rested every Saturday and spend time with Him. Not a bad thing to do any way you look at it.
You almost get it

We no longer follow the law of Moses. Because it can not help us grow in Christ and be righteous people. It was not
Given for that purpose
we as New Testament believer fellow the law of love. As the example of Christ who ever day all day lived his father and loved all people and in doing this he by practice fulfilled the law

We are currently learning in Bible school how everything is pointing to Christ. Everything!

The Tabernacle, each piece of furniture in the Tabernacle, the walls around the Tabernacle, the olives they pressed to make oil for the Tabernacle, and so I can go on and on and on.

The Commandments are for the glory of God... each and every one of the 10.
Yet
1. The command just tells you not to do something
2 the command does not tell you how and does Not Give all Possible ways in which the command can be broken

Hence by application

The command can show you you are a sinner

The command can not show you how to be righteous (that was never it’s purpose)
when people try to use it as a means to
Be righteous. It is like using a car to get from New York to London. Your gonna sink

The disconnect is that people do not realize the word law is usually a transcription of the word Torah. The word law is legalistic, the word Torah has a heart and soul.

I would just just love it if people would just respond to what is being said. And live up to what they believe. I find it confusing when people say they believe something but when asked to spell it out they ignore the question and try to change the subject or attack the one who asked.

It hurts our conversation and makes it an argument instead of Fruitful discussion. I hate arguing. I am sure we all do

Love you to bro

How do we obey commands?

Is it Not through faith and love?
The jews were given the law and as I believe paul stated it was a burden they could not handle because it is made in a way no one can follow it

We don’t become righteous people by following the law of Moses. At best we can THINK we are following it and doing good when in reality. We can do no better than the pharisees

We become righteous people by faith and being born again. Then following the law of love. Which when we follow. We By practice do Not Break commands and hence would be seen as those who keep gods commands. Not because they follow the law of Moses. But because they follow the law of love

The word Torah actually has many meaning

The book of the law or 1st 5 books

The whole OT (Ie the whole Bible)

Mosaic law

Again the disconnect is people see the word command and automatically assumes it Means the Ten Commandments. It is far deeper than this

The scripture in questions just say they obey his commands. It does not say how or why. Ie. It is descriptive not prescriptive. It does not tell us to obey any law but states we live a life which does not by practice break the law (not perfection)

Using this to tell people they must follow the law is to use it out of context

it is very simple.

Sabbath keeping is required or it is a option. it is either part of salvation through faith and trust in Christ, or it is not.

either it is or it is not. it cannot be both.

it seems as if the Sabbath pushers try to make it be both, an " optional requirement".

there is no such thing as a " optional requirement", that is why they cannot give direct answers, they have a self-contradicting theology....

I do not think they all think we need to do it to be saved

The law says we shall not commit Adultry. Does it Mean it is required to be saved? No. But it is still a sin if you break that command

It has?

then show me in the Bible what it looks like to obey the sabbath

you speak a lot. But I have yet hear you show anyone what it looks like,

is it because you can’t?
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

That’s how you keep it. If you don’t like it take it up with the Bible.

You need to go on. There are other requirements

Make sure you get them all

If you are wondering what they are @mailmandan posted them a few days ago

No it’s quite clear. There are laws from the Jewish nation that have been nailed to the cross.
So you water down the law and make what was a sin no longer a sin?
laws were not nailed to the cross. The penalty of sin was nailed to the cross.
I would think people understood this basic gospel truth

Whenever you get on the "must" tack, you are not in accord with scripture. We are given free choice in all things. No one is to tell anyone they "must" do anything. If God does not tell us we "must" do anything, no man has a right to tell anyone they "must".

We may follow the law or choose not to follow it. We may turn from our sin and Christ will forgive and forget, or we can choose not to turn from our sin. There is no "must" in scripture.

It is the penalty for sin that is nailed to the cross. The need for repentance was not nailed to the cross, God is eternal. He does not change in any way, what the word tells us is truth all through scripture, in every page.

Unless one is an antinomian, then believers know that we are not released from the moral Law.

The old Ceremonial and Sacrificial Laws given to Moses were fulfilled by our Lord Jesus Christ and no longer apply:
Mat_5:17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.

These Laws, including prophetical statements from Prophets and the Psalms, they were types and shadows of the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are my words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.

Once fulfilled, they had served there purpose. But as to the Moral Law, (Ten Commandments), they were spoken of by our Lord in:
Mat 22:37-40 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the great and first commandment. (This takes in Commandments 1-4), And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (This takes in Commandments 5-10), On these two commandments the whole law is standing, and the Prophets. This was also recorded in Mark 12:30, 31 and Luke 10:27.

The Moral Law, not only convicts believers of sin but is a continual reminder of what God expects in approaching and worshipping Him and in dealings with our fellow man. This Law stands forever and the proof is in what our Lord said above, by compressing the 10 Commandments into 2 Commandments. The two principles laid out, continue throughout NT Scripture, in the need to Love Jesus Christ above all else and to Love fellow believers. Both of these are accomplished in the sphere of TRUTH.

1Pe_1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently:
1Jn_3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth.
2Jn_1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all they that know the truth;
3Jn_1:1 The elder unto Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth.
2Jn_1:3 Grace, mercy, peace shall be with us, from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Love is not an emotion that is given out willy-nilly by believers but is shown to those who are in the Truth and Love the Truth. One who loves Truth loves Christ and will endeavor to keep His Commandments and study to show oneself approved by God.

For those who are not partakers of God's Truth, you have the following:

2Th 2:10-12 and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God sending them a working of error, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Belief in Jesus Christ and a love for Truth can not be separated. We can only worship God in 1st) Spirit, must be "born again" (John 3:1-10), and 2nd) Truth, (John 4:23, 24).

If we love Christ and the Truth, we except and see the beauty of His Moral law. These Commandments cover thoughts, words and deeds. Let's take a quick look:

Man towards God
In Thoughts:
1)
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Mat. 22:37)
2) Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them; for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me, and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
In Words:
3) Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (Vain means in a useless or deceiving way.)
In Deeds:
4) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Man towards Man:
In Deeds:
5)
Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.
6) Thou shalt not kill. (Murder... God has no problem with killing in the time of War and in the line of Duty)
7) Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8) Thou shalt not steal.
In Words:
9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. (This takes in all lies)
In Thoughts:
10)
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

There is only one unpardonable sin my friend
unbelief or lack of faith

The Bible says he who does not believe is condemned already

Let’s stick to the word
