Can we then say Baptism isn't necessary for Salvation? What did Christ's other Apostles tell us ?
Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;[j]
1 Peter 3: 21 And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you[an]—not the washing off of physical dirt[ao] but the pledge[ap] of a good conscience to God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Footnote: [an] 1 Peter 3:21 Grk “which also, [as] an antitype, now saves you, [that is] baptism.” Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.
The Apostle Peter's teaching at Pentecost:
Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized[cb] in the name of Jesus Christ[cc] for[cd] the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.[ce]
Footnote: Acts 2:38 tn The verb is a third person imperative, but the common translation “let each of you be baptized” obscures the imperative force in English, since it sounds more like a permissive (“each of you may be baptized”) to the average English reader.
Paul taught the same Gospel then as did the other Apostles.
Galatians 1:
Occasion of the Letter
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one[
d] who called you by the grace of Christ[
e] and are following[
f] a different[
g] gospel— 7 not that there really is another gospel,[
h] but[
i] there are some who are disturbing you and wanting[
j] to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we (or an angel from heaven) should preach[
k] a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you,[
l] let him be condemned to hell![
m] 9 As we have said before, and now I say again, if any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let him be condemned to hell![
n] 10 Am I now trying to gain the approval of people,[
o] or of God? Or am I trying to please people?[
p] If I were still trying to please[
q] people,[
r] I would not be a slave[
s] of Christ!
