Acts 2:38 promise to your children also
You are confused.

Acts 2:38 says, Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of
Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Perhaps you mean the following verse, but even then? The promise is to those who repent.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (baptismal regeneration)
That is spiritual regeneration -- regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit. The washing is internal, and with the blood of Christ. Kindly get acquainted with the true Gospel.

Not a cleansing? How do you lose original sin without Christian baptism?
You lose original sin by the "FINISHED" work of Jesus Christ on that cross. Also, if you positing that water baptism is essential for salvation what are you going to do about the thief on the cross? He acknowledged he was a sinner and Jesus forgave him and that's why Jesus said he would be with Him/Jesus in Paradise.

Moreover, look at Acts 10 regarding Cornelius. Verses 44-48, please read them and tell me from verses 45-48 did Cornelius receive the gift of the Holy Spirit before or after he was water baptised? You can have a thousand models of where people were water baptized in order to be saved but it only takes one model to wipe it away. Remember, God only has to speak once for it to be the truth.

IN GOD THE SON,

All of the Apostles taught Baptism by water and spirit of course. All the Apostles baptized by water also, including when with Jesus who also Baptized. Paul however did not Baptize people but did teach that Baptism is necessary for salvation.

Romans 6:
The Believer’s Freedom from Sin’s Domination
1 What shall we say then? Are we to remain in sin so that grace may increase? 2 Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life.[a]

Galatians 3:27 For all of you who[bd] were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[be] nor free, there is neither male nor female[bf]—for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants,[bg] heirs according to the promise.

I think this is important, that Jesus himself was Baptized by John the Baptizer/Baptist. Matthew 3:
The Baptism of Jesus
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John to be baptized by him in the Jordan River.[u] 14 But John[v] tried to prevent[w] him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?” 15 So Jesus replied[x] to him, “Let it happen now,[y] for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John[z] yielded[aa] to him. 16 After[ab] Jesus was baptized, just as he was coming up out of the water, the[ac] heavens[ad] opened[ae] and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove[af] and coming to rest[ag] on him. 17 And[ah] a voice from heaven said,[ai] “This is my one dear Son;[aj] in him[ak] I take great delight.”[al]

  • What of Jesus' teaching to Nicodemus?
(Throughout John 3 we learn the importance of Baptism)
John 3:5 Jesus answered, “I tell you the solemn truth,[k] unless a person is born of water and spirit,[l] he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Reiterated in Mark 16:16(below) The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned.

Can we then say Baptism isn't necessary for Salvation? What did Christ's other Apostles tell us ?

Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;[j]

1 Peter 3: 21 And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you[an]—not the washing off of physical dirt[ao] but the pledge[ap] of a good conscience to God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Footnote: [an] 1 Peter 3:21 Grk “which also, [as] an antitype, now saves you, [that is] baptism.” Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

The Apostle Peter's teaching at Pentecost: Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized[cb] in the name of Jesus Christ[cc] for[cd] the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.[ce]
Footnote:
Acts 2:38 tn The verb is a third person imperative, but the common translation “let each of you be baptized” obscures the imperative force in English, since it sounds more like a permissive (“each of you may be baptized”) to the average English reader.

Paul taught the same Gospel then as did the other Apostles.
Galatians 1:
Occasion of the Letter
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one[d] who called you by the grace of Christ[e] and are following[f] a different[g] gospel— 7 not that there really is another gospel,[h] but[i] there are some who are disturbing you and wanting[j] to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we (or an angel from heaven) should preach[k] a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you,[l] let him be condemned to hell![m] 9 As we have said before, and now I say again, if any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let him be condemned to hell![n] 10 Am I now trying to gain the approval of people,[o] or of God? Or am I trying to please people?[p] If I were still trying to please[q] people,[r] I would not be a slave[s] of Christ!

Just a few minutes ago, you agreed with this statement: No physical ritual is required for Salvation.
I did. Then I fully researched your question to me and learned I was wrong about that.
I see you checked me. ;) Is that because you agree because you found you were wrong also? (Asking, not intended to be a smarty pants remark, jsyk. :))

Not a cleansing? How do you lose original sin without Christian baptism?
In Jesus’ words.

Luke 24:44-48 ESV

Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

I guess we will just have to disagree that there was no actual fire....I see it as symbolic.
What I see in Matthew 3:10-12 is not what people usually see. Look closely at verse 10. Jesus is talking about cutting unfruitful trees down and putting them into a fire. Is he talking about unrepentant people going to hell?

Verse 11 he's talking about fire again and also water; water for repentance, baptism of the Holy Spirit, and a baptism with fire. The same God who saves with the Holy Spirit is the same God who baptizes with the fires of hell.

So is the baptism of the Holy Spirit actually salvation and the baptism of fire the same as cutting unfruitful trees down and casting them into the fires of hell? Interested in thoughts. Thank you.

How do you cleanse the Spirit with physical water?

I still believe that...
OK, I'm a bit confused. Gee, that never happens.
You agreed with me in the other post I made wherein I said I was wrong about thinking Baptism wasn't required for Salvation.
Or is it that you don't believe Baptism is a ritual and that's why you agreed with me prior, but reiterate you don't believe any ritual is required for Salvation?

There are so many passages in the new testament about baptism, I can't believe this is debated among those who say they believe. If you believe the book do you only believe part? Then read the scriptures. Read it for what it actually says.
Baptism joins you to Jesus in his death, and therefore also his resurrection, a marriage if you can.
