Paul in Corinthians is contrasting man's wisdom v Gods wisdom. If a person seeks answers in man's wisdom, God's wisdom will be foolishness to him . The remedy is God's wisdom. To believe that . This is also mainly aimed at the carnal Christians at corinth .

The issue with your questions is your presumptions and bias is loaded in your question.

No not if he's in chains . But he can cry out for help and call out to be freed . Jesus then breaks those chains. I feel a song coming on lol .

Like children we have faith. It is not the mental gymnastics kind of, to believe or not believe, consider this..., consider this, ... consider this..., and only then I believe - no if the the believe of faith is granted by God's grace, it is childlike.
See what Calvinsm teaches ( And Arminians) is that we cannot even believe or respond positively to God's revelation unless he is partially or fully regenerated first . This , whilst sounds logical and plausible and if you hand pick some verses ,squint your eyes a certain way ,you can begin to start seeing this concept.
