Lol, Christians are deceived all the time. For example, some Christians believe that God elects some to salvation.😀

The first mention of elect is concerning Jesus. Jesus is God’s elect, His servant.

Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
Do Christians elect themselves?

Coronavirus is a plague sent by the Lord, and scripture tells us a lot about plagues and what to do about them. When the Lord decided to destroy Sodom, Abraham pleaded for God not to do that. When Abraham asked the Lord if he would destroy all if there were righteous people found in the city the Lord replied in Genesis 18:32 “I will not destroy it on account of 10”.

In Matt. 24:22 we are told of the last days plagues: “but those days will be limited, because of the elect”.
Bleh, what nonsense. God does not send imaginary plagues. If anything, coronahoax is part of the strong delusion sent to those who hate truth, that they may believe a lie.

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Also in that chapter, in verse 21-22, it says:

"21For at that time there will be great tribulation, unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again. 22If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be cut short."

Tribulation unmatched since the beginning of the world is a prerequisite for that verse. If the great flood in the days of Noah wiped out the earth, save eight people, what do you propose the event was that was unmatched since the beginning of the world?
Well I think we should see what the text actually says and not add our own ideas to it.

In context:
15“So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, 18and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. 19And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! 20Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. 23Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25See, I have told you beforehand. 26So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

Okay it says, in the context of Jesus warning THESE PEOPLE to watch for these things, His recorded words are "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.", can we pull "worst even in history, body count wise, destruction wise, in any quantifiable way"? form such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now", it just says it's unlike anything that has happen or ever would. I wasn't there of course, but have you read some of the extra biblical, historical accounts of the sacking of Jerusalem? Mothers eating and trying to share their cooked babies, the streets literally flowing with blood. The Jews put up one hell of a fight to the last man defending the temple, but it was Gods judgement they were fighting. Have you read about that? The Romans were VERY VERY crazed with rage and anger when they finally broke them. They were so mad about the EXTENSIVE losses they sustained, and the shear amount of humiliation they had endured at the hand of the Jew protecting Jerusalem, when they finally made it through there was unbelievable horror and death when judgement fell on those very same Jews that cried "Let His blood be on us and on our children", when Pilate tried to reason for Jesus life years earlier, then washed his hands of it. (which was just as weak in itself)

So honestly I don't see the same meaning in it that you do really.

Do Christians elect themselves?
God elects those in Christ to be servants for Him. God has chosen the way of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is God’s elect.

So Christians are individually elect also? Yes or no.

I’m not so sure if we’re individually elected, but as a whole we have been elected to serve the Lord, not to be saved. Now that I’m in Christ, God has chosen me to get to work for Him, to be an ambassador for Him.

Ok. So what about foreordained? Are Christians foreordained to salvation?

Elected to serve, yes, elected to be in Christ? Nope, not in Scripture. Election is connected with service not salvation.
Interesting subject...I've always thought the elect meant the true believers. Especially when reading Matthew 24...Unless those days be shortened even the very elect would be deceived, if it were possible. He is coming back to gather the elect from throughout the earth. This seems to be referring to the "saved", to me anyhow.

FTR…I am not saving, I believe God chose to elect some and not others. I believe Jesus atoned and made the way for any and all who will believe in him. I believe that the elect are those who accept God's call, and thus have salvation through Jesus Christ.

Jesus was foreordained.

1 Peter 1
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Are you saying that God never uses the secular for His purposes? If you think it is nonsense, read the story of Nebuchadnezzar,

For all the posters who are interested in the physical facts and not the spiritual, Jackson brought out the idea that olive oil might kill this virus. I don't know anything about that, but I have studied our diet, It consists almost entirely of foods that have been changed from how God created them. Even our rice and cornmeal has been altered.

I asked a manager of a grocery store once if he had cornmeal without the germ removed, and he seriously asked me if I wanted cornmeal with germs!

Selective breeding has resulted in massive increases in food production. You'd have to be fairly knowledgeable in crop genetics and agrology to be able to demonstrate that present versions are somehow "worse" than original versions (if such even exist today).

I am not knowledgeable about crop genetics or agrology, and not about to be. I only know grains are adjusted by taking out part of them, oils are processed so you would need to be chemistry major to understand, and producing meat for market has nothing to do with plain agriculture. Even honey is heated so the natural enzymes are killed.

Abraham finally settled on just 10 righteous people. I wonder why he didn't take a step further and ask the Lord to spare the city if there were only 2 or just the one. I would surmise that this site has at least 10 righteous members, yourself included.

You have given us what is the opposite of the Lord. The Lord guides us to ways of health, prosperity, and abundance. Following demons will do the opposite. Read the history of any country and it will show you the results of following the Lord.
