I hate auto correct and rarely use predictive spelling,...better to keep your brain in gear!!

But really I have no clue why you would thumbs down to someone's preference ...you can thumbs down this post too!
Stating what you want to say in clear, plainly understood English is important to those who want to read what you have to say. It's a matter of courtesy to others.

Such a harsh judgement you cast
..... if you read most of his posts the are typically error free.

I will be more courteous with my grammar and spelling going forward.

There, let us move on.

It could be possible that my take is incorrect but I think it is correct.
Just like you think it's not.

I do have some John Gill stuff in my library but not what you have quoted.
The Gill quote is his from his commentary on John, I didn't make it up. There are more commentary that come to the same conclusion. We must know what Scripture means, not just what it says, or what we think (your claim) that it says.

I am always open to be corrected but am happy to not be. If that's the case it means I'm settled in what I believe to be the truth. Just like you.
I really don't believe you're open to be corrected on this issue.

I am walking with a guy at the moment who is a believer. Baptised him.
Why did you baptize him?

Now he is really struggling.
Severe trauma from the past. Horrific sexual abuse from his step dad.
I never knew my dad, kicked out by mum and fostered into a Christian family only to suffer the same.
Bro, we all have pasts. I'd tell you mine, but not on this thread.

In his head the Bible tells him the God loves him because he is dirty and at fault.
Something is amiss with the above statement. His Gospel understanding seems to be shaky. I also am not certain what you mean by this. How did he conclude this? Who taught him these things?

I just want to reassure people like him that actually God really does love him.
You're not going to convince or reassure a person of something that is God's job, and not yours. It's not mine either.

Taking scripture out of its intent isn’t going to help the guy. God does not love us in the same equality in which he loves the Son. But he did show us how much he loved us while we were yet sinners, Romans 5:6-8.

You’ll probably have better success in explaining to him that God loves him in similitude and order, not in equality, as in the ways Gill explained and described. I’d examine those points with him in Scripture. But again, it is not your job to convince him God loves him. If you're trying to reassure him, it sounds to me he's never been sure about it at all.

Explaining these truths may help, trying to convince him God loves him as much as God loves the Son is going out on a limb.

I don't see any person in heaven before God telling Jesus that the Father loves them just as much as He loves Him. That, quite frankly sounds arrogant if you think about it, it doesn't match up with other Scriptures as far as our attitude of reverence and worship of the Son, and the distinct love the Father has for Him. You're making it out to be that there is no distinction in the love the Father has for the Son than for us. That is the conclusion of saying God's love for us is the exact same equal love he has for the Son. That is unbiblical. That is not the intent of John 17:23.

Furthermore I don’t see any scholarly work or exegesis supporting your view or coming to your conclusion.

How would I counsel him? That he was an enemy of God, Colossians 1:23, Romans 8 &c then tell him God showed his love by sending him to the cross.

Only Christ can cleanse his guilty conscience, Hebrews 10:22. I'd investigate his understanding of the Gospel, repentance, faith, examination of conversion. 2 Corinthians 13:5. I'd concentrate on those things. I think part of another issue is in out reassuring someone they are saved and going to heaven on a profession of faith. The parable of the sower comes to mind.

It's been a little while, but the main thing I remember about Dottie is debating OSAS vs. NOSAS with her. I don't recall her getting mean and nasty with me, but there were others on that site who were extremely mean and nasty! Straw man arguments, slander, hateful remarks became the norm towards the end of my stay there. I made one final post on that site letting everyone know I was fed up with that toxic environment and I left. I did check back a couple of months later and noticed that the site had been shut down. It's a good thing because that site turned into a real nightmare and the mods there did absolutely nothing about it. It became a hate filled free for all!

Well I remember Dottie very well. Yes, she did get nasty at times and there was no debating or discussion with her about anything OSAS. She hasn't changed.

I think we are more likely at different places in our walk with Him, me being at it decades longer than you have and have therefore more understanding.

I, for example, focus on doing what God wants me to do which produces the fruits of the spirit without focusing on them. A tree doesn’t focus on producing fruit. Fruit comes from focusing on nourishing. It’s a lot easier to focus on Him than on the fruit.

I would also recommend grounding your faith in the Bible and less on personal revelation. All false teaching I ever heard came from personal revelation not meaning that all revelation is wrong. Just needs to be backed up by the personal revelation the writers of the Bible had.

A tree doesn’t focus on producing fruit. Fruit comes from focusing on nourishing.
I think you need to learn a bit more about fruit trees.

The healthy tree is very focused producing fruit that is why it sends nutrients up the trunk to the branches and to the fruit.

The only thing the fruit does is wait for the supply.

Your speech and behavior on these chat boards expose your OSAS doctrine so plainly.

It’s a shame that your blindness won’t let you see it (Ephesians 4:18).

Some level of maturity should have cleansed you of this type of railing speech by now.

All I can say is a new born again believer, a teacher sound in the faith was essential to my be grounded in the faith.

I had the Holy Spirit for discernment, to guide and reveal.

One does not negate the other... they support each other.

maybe so. that is good that you had the Spirit.

only the Spirit can lead into All truth though maybe so there will be errors in everything, but one discovers these later on in their walk (or they can).

And somebody does not recognize a JOKE, when it is right in front of his face.

WE OSAS Born Again True Believer are NOT LONGER SEARCHING FOR TRUTH, because we KNOW we have it, and the Holy Spirit has convinced us of that FACT. I hope and pray you find the TRUTH SOON, because, I do not think we have that much time left.

oh, they are hungry EG. I fed raccoons with the feral cats that we’re in the neighborhood. Believe it or not, they make good pets. Are very humorous to watch.

You mentioned Jacob's Ladder. That may be more real than you know. I absolutely BELIEVE in the Rapture, no matter when it happens. I believe and call it The BRIDE of CHRIST is CALLED OUT, to go to the WEDDING of the LAMB, in the New City Jerusalem, in HEAVEN. And it says we will Reign with HIM as Priests, and our New Dwelling Place is IN THE NEW CITY JERUSALEM! While HE Reigns for a 1000 YEARS hear on Earth.

Has any one besides me ever wondered HOW WE WILL GET BACK AND FORTH AS PRIESTS during HIS MILLENNIAL KINGDOM ? ? ?

I learned back in the late 80's, one of the main reasons For Jacobs dream, was to convince us that GOD has created a WAY for us to be IN HEAVEN during our off Time, and On earth to TEACH as Priests, the MORTAL CHILDREN OF the 144,000. Whether it is a literal ladder or staircase, or some other way, like a Portal, GOD HAS HIS PLAN, and all we need is to TRUST HIM.

We don't judge the person's soul for that is up to God to do. However, we do and should judge the actions of a person, the words of a person, and most definitely the doctrine/preaching/leadership of any person on spiritual matters. There are false teachers, leaders, preachers and absolutely FALSE DOCTRINE.
Then you remember how "toxic" she was.
St. just judged my soul which Dan could testify was not true.

The Catholic Inquisition had pretty much that attitude. Glad this site is anonymous.

Pretty sure trees aren’t focusing on producing fruit same as we don’t focus our abilities on the necessary bodily arrangements so offspring come. A women doesn’t give a single thought to getting an ova ready and no man has to remember to produce sperm. We focus on nourishing the body and those parts that prepare for reproduction do so without any effort to make all ready.

But I will refrain from being as personally insulting as you are as I know God reads the posts we write and not merely sees the ones Jesus wrote.

Your whole doctrine teaching is false and misleading. You judge others and then you wince whenever you are called out.
But obviously you cannot find a post where I judged others.

Is this akin to you saying you don’t judge other’s souls the called my soul caustic?

YET another unmerited SLAM against a OSAS Believer. Do you ever get tired of the false accusation of OSAS believers.
We sure do.

Wasn’t false. She claimed she doesn’t judge souls and then judged my soul. I didnt even mention OSAS.

Don’t you read what your team writes?? You seem to be biased in their favor no matter what wrong they write. Doesn’t this bother you? At least one of your team admits some of your members do wrong here. That shows a desire for truth.
