And yet the more early manuscripts we find the more we have to compare, and by comparing we can come closer to the originals.
I agree with you on some level. However, regardless of how many early manuscripts there will always be the art/science of translation.

Can you give an example of a "blatant contradiction"? If two translations don't agree then obviously you must prefer one over the other. I intentionally read several translations; I prefer the NET, the NIV, the NRSV, the ESV, and the 1599 Geneva Bible, in that order.

looks like a lot of time that has been spent in here making
personal declarations could be better spent -
11TIM. 2:15.
Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing The Word of Truth.
16.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
23.
But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

This is what we are arguing about lol.... some people don't believe the word of Truth exists today.

This is only applied to the KJV.😉
The other versions, revisions, or translations lack perceived contradictions and errors? My favorite is the NKJV and my perception is that it contains no contradictions and errors.

I think that's exactly how God wants us to do it, find the one that we don't see any contradictions and errors and stick with it ONLY. If you believe the NKJV has no errors and you stick with it only, then you are doing it in the way that God intended.

Lol, you can get this simple truth from reading the words of the KJV. You cannot get this truth from the new versions. They contradict themselves, thus, cannot be trusted for truth.
That's why the footnotes are provided; they explain the issues adequately.

Any translation of God's word WITHOUT God inspiring the translation is man's OPINION of God's word, it has nothing to do with the mind of God.
That makes every translation suspect... including the KJV. Might as well start learning Greek and Hebrew!

Correct! They must be examined for errors. I already showed you an error in the ESV and NASB. A faithful witness will not lie.
What you showed are examples where the actual text was translated, and further explanation was required.

Ok, then when you come across a blatant contradiction then you should dump that version for another.
Or explain it away on the basis of your intractable belief that your version is correct.

Why is that you believe that God has never involved himself in the translation of his word?

Proof notes cast doubt on the text, plain and simple.
So the sidenotes in the KJV cast doubt on the text, plain and simple.

Oh... your printing doesn't have notes? Well, then it's been corrupted! The 1611 printing had notes.

KJV 1611 John-Chapter-2-3 alt readings.jpg

What do verses 3:3 and 3:7 say? 'Againe" or "from above"? We must know! How can we trust God if we don't have a complete, perfect, and pure Word? Every word is critical!

Your position is debunked. At least have the integrity to admit it.

Why do you believe that He has only involved Himself in one translation?

Right back atcha. :)

Because there's only one God, one Jesus, one way to God, one gospel, only one Old Testament scripture. Multiple translations don't bring more clarity to scripture, it causes people to look for alternate views when they don't like what one particular bible says.

Nothing about multiple bible versions lines up with the character of God and the way he works.

So you'll be using Tyndale henceforth? Your argument runs counter to your position. :)

I saw #151 and replied to it. It saddens me that you understand so little about Bible translation. Just because the KJV translates some verses one way and other translations translate another way means nothing. No translations are identical; it's impossible. Even the KJV is based on older translations and has been changed throughout its history.

Why are you so stuck in the KJV? It's the work of men, nothing more.

There's only one God, one Jesus, one Holy Spirit, and one gospel. There are multiple Old Testament scriptures (plural!), multiple New Testament scriptures, and many, many translations into multiple languages.

It causes people to look for alternate views when they don't like what one particular bible says. That makes sense, in a way. No translation is perfect -- it's impossible -- so people use multiple translations to get the fullest meaning. Only KJVOs won't consider other versions because they believe that the KJV is infallible. It isn't; it's just a translation of the source documents available at the time. You and other KJVOs are limiting your knowledge of God and His message by sticking with the KJV; it makes you unable to look for alternate views when you don't like what another bible says.
