Jackierose, the best understanding of how grace is given is found in scripture.

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
When we humble ourselves in obedience to some step He asked you to do, the grace He gives as a direct result is astounding.
It appears as if you are telling us that YOU have to first be humble yourself, by yourself in and of yourself to obtain grace.

Indeed self-righteousness and works-based salvation is a common theme in all of your posts!

Jackie rose, I’m not sure I understand what false obedience is, but I’ll tell you what I’ve learned. There is obedience, half obedience and disobedience. The attitude plays much less a role than accomplishing what He asks.

I know there are those who insist it has to be from love or it’s nothing.

But imagine this. A man says this to his bride. “Honey, I love you so much I want to help you all the days if your life to show how filled with deep love I am. You deserve nothing less. And because you deserve nothing less, I will not help you on days where I am not filled with that passion. I’ll will honor you by waiting until that love for you fills my heart and overwhelms my desire to please myself. Isn’t that a great promise? Wouldn’t she be thrilled?

Jesus told the parable of the two sons each given a task. One had the right attitude but didn’t do the task. One had a bad attitude but did tge task. Jesus said the latter was approved and no reprimand for the attitude.

Obedience is what counts.

I agree obedience is very important to God......took me a long time to learn that one........

I don’t see DorothyMae saying that....we come before the Lord and ask him to humble us in his strength...we can’t humble ourselves in our own strength.....again it must be sincere straight from ones heart.

It’s not an either/or answer, it’s both. Most OSAS believers will tell you we obey God, but we do so with joyful, thankful hearts, not obligatory ones. Unfortunately most everyone who opposes OSAS for some reason believe we are against obeying God.
I’m afraid the OSAS posts do not demonstrate this joy in obedience. The command to love your opponent is not apparent.

Well it actually says

“humble yourself..”

As a teen I remember the youth pastor telling us God was asking him to pick up some trash and that was humbling him. We don’t need his strength to pick up trash.

The there is the parable of the sheep and goats. No attitudes are mentioned, just what they did or failed to do. (Now they’ll really call me works salvation cause I mentioned that parable. Jesus taught but you’d think they think I made it up.)

I’m not discrediting your life experience. You state you’ve encountered hateful 0SAS believers. It is not my place to say you haven’t. My experience as previously stated is it’s the Pharisees who are more hateful and more numerous. On another note, you seem very defensive. Not just in the above post but in many of them.
Actually these are posters who wrote me over the last few days, not somewhere in my life. I could go back and fish them out HERE for you. It happens frequently when I show I don’t believe in OsAS. You don’t need to believe me. I can show you.

Wow!......I admire your belief.....also no one can budge me from mine either....unless God shows me different...

I never heard anyone say you’re against obeying. We say you make it an optional extra. Or you wait until you feel like obeying (filled with love) which clearly is not 24/7.

Actually I can offer evidence and I am not unable to be budged. But I search the scriptures to see if these things be so and change accordingly.

DorothyMae is subtle with many of her heresies. Some others are far more blatant and brazen.
For example:

She is clearly stated that she does NOT believe that God has eternal love for the Israelites, Furthermore she's clearly stated that she believes that God has now abandoned Israel forever.
She also has expressed loathing for ethnic Jews, and believes that God's wrath in the book of Revelation is appointed to and focused primarily upon the Jews. She has also stated very clearly that she believes that the great whore of Revelation 18 is Israel.

All of the above are brazen outrageous heresies. They are definitely not Biblical.

So I would suggest that you be very very careful when dealing with certain posters on these boards.

When/Once saved ................saved eternally,... that is the Gospel and there is no other.

"So great a salvation"

All of them. But I do say I feel like Jesus when the man asked him "just who is my neighbor" or Peter who asked if forgiving his brother 7 times was enough. Sort of says, "what is the minimum I have to fulfill in "loving my neighbor" or to be "forgiving others" anyway?
Thank you for answering.
