Those who teach we are saved by faith AND works are saying that works, along with faith are the basis or means by which we either obtain and/or maintain salvation, which places merit on works and is earning salvation (at least in part) whether they realize it and admit it or not.
I'm pretty sure you do not believe the authors of the Bible were teaching the merit of works and earning salvation, even in part, whether they realized it and admitted it or not when they said this:
"
Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." - Acts 2:40
"
women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety." - 1 Timothy 2:15
"Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do,
you will save both yourself and your hearers." - 1 Timothy 4:16
“
If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” - 1 Peter 4:18
But if someone comes into the forum saying these kinds of things it's suddenly them teaching being saved by works.
Your problem is you do not understand what it means to be saved by works
and that not have to mean those works earn salvation, even thought the Bible clearly talks about that.
You are blinded and biased by two things:
One, your ugly grudge against the Catholic Church (you see works salvation under every rock).
Two, your osas bias that doesn't let you see anything outside of your osas box.
