The best translation is obviously the one you can understand. However there are translations that I would advise everyone to stay away from and they are the modern versions that twist scripture to conform to social norms.. I.E using different genders.

The NIV is the worst.. the message and other far out translations are also worthless. I would recommend the NASB , ESV, KJV, NKJV and if you want the easiest version in English to read that's reliable then I would suggest the NLT.
I've been using the NIV for over 30 years (though not exclusively) and I have no idea what you are on about.
The last looked there are only two genders.

Just a question...

If those who read only the KJV , and believe that is the only true word of God , is that not like saying only KJV people are saved ?...

I have never read the KJV , but I know I am saved because my NASB tells me because it is Gods Word ...

God is amazing...
...xox...
One can get saved by reading a t-shirt with the gospel message on it. We are talking about the totality of God's truth.

Like I said , I have His truth in my NASB , would you ever read from another bible ? , like if you went away and stayed in a hotel or some place where they had a different bible to your KJV , would you not read it? , genuine question...

In 2011 the NIV updated their scripture to include gender neutral language, as this isn't the word of God and they changed wording to be more socially inclusive I view it as the work of the devil!
if you have been reading the NIV for many many years then you wouldn't notice this in the older versions.. although the new versions are gender changed I assumed this was common knowledge for Bible readers.

The NIV is slowly changing over to another gospel and another Jesus... sadly, they're not the only ones.

Agreed.

On what do you base your criticism? To what do you compare the NIV that you call it "twisted"?

Worthless for what, exactly? Do you understand the difference between a translation and a paraphrase? Do you understand the intent and value of each?
As stated in another post, I believe 'twisted' to be changing words that are to be suited for an audience for social acceptance not for sound doctrine, in other words for politics sake.

I don't think any Christian should be reading paraphrase bibles.. not unless that person is very young or has reading difficulties. A person who can read without difficulty should be reading word for word.. because it's the words of God that we follow right?

He accused me of worshiping a book. Ridiculous. If we don't magnify God's word, Jesus Christ will not be received and worshiped.

I've talked to lost people who reject Christianity because of all the different bibles. They claim that Christians cannot even get their story straight. Confusion comes when there's more than one authority.
I've talked to lost people and have never heard that one.
And it's easy to settle the mind of one who does pose that question. Answer; Reading levels, and language changes through out history.
I have never met an atheist who has read then entire Bible of any version, much less multiple versions.
Straw men, burn easily.

To be honest, not a chance.

EXACTLY. That is the point that seems to be irrelevant to those who promote modern Bible versions.

The goal of the King James translators was to translate word for word what they found in the Hebrew and Greek (as much as it was possible). When that would not have provided an idiomatic translation they added words IN ITALICS to help the reader obtain a clear understanding.

However, in the case of *tongues*, they should have consistently omitted *unknown* (which is not in the text) and used the word *language(s)* throughout for glossa/glossais.

Here's a good example of using italics for words inserted by the translators.
If any man speak in an [unknown] tongue, [let it be] by two, or at the most [by] three, and [that] by course; and let one interpret. (1 Cor 14:27)

εἴτε γλώσσῃ τις λαλεῖ κατὰ δύο ἢ τὸ πλεῖστον τρεῖς καὶ ἀνὰ μέρος καὶ εἷς διερμηνευέτω·

Literal rendering: If with a tongue anyone speaks, [let it be] by two, or [by] the most three, and in turn, and one let interpret.

Many lost people have more knowledge about the Bible issue than Christians. Most Christians have no idea about versions. Most think the new versions are just easier to read versions from the KJV. False.

I never met one, in over 20 years.
I met one who thought he knew about them Bible, but I pointed out to him that the Bible didn't say any of the things he thought it did, and does say many things the thought it didn't say.
I have never met a biblically literate atheist. Not even one.

I like the NIV due to its simplicity as many others do. Have we not gotten the true word of God? I would say no. God is not limited to humans expeditions of how things should be communicated.

You just rendered the passage useless and meaningless by removing unknown. An unknown tongue means it's NOT KNOWN... by anybody, it's not a language.

Gender change? You are making it sound as if they've given the apostles a sex-change.

If you mean it may use "people" in some places instead of "men" I think you are over-reacting.
When the meaning is the same it shouldn't matter.

Mark 5
NIV
11 ‘Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

KJV
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

It was just over an hour ago and you stated you have no idea what I was talking about, and now you want a debate about it? No thank you..
If you see no issue with the change of gender roles then by all means enjoy your reading. I just won't entertain it.

I think your cult has taught you to feel superior.
I never thought my NIV was an easier to read KJV because I read the preface from the committee of translators. The KJV is a translation. That is all. It is not the one translation by which all others must be judged.

Some revised Bibles do seem to become more gender inclusive, but the overall theology and message remains the same. Sometimes we wonder too far off into the weeds.

Well excuse me won't you. I went and had some dinner. I don't stay online & on one website continuously.
People are free to read whichever translation/s they choose. You may have noticed there is no 'NIV Only' club.

Maybe it's like Joel Osteen said, Jesus is the only way to God but there are many paths to Jesus.
