Confessing sins is coming into agreement with God as part of our relationship, fellowship and to help grow in Christ, HOWEVER, when we are born from above, all past, present and future sins are covered by the blood of Jesus and all sins were forgiven at the cross.
Amen....where sin abounds, grace abounds the more <<--written to saved, immersed church members!!

The truth is simple.......and yet salvation losers, self help salvation gurus, Cainologists, Pharisees, workers for ALL conflate truths, skew and twist truths, deny context, falsely accuse, misdirect, deny verb tense, deny the very definitions of the words inspired by GOD.....

They state that JESUS will not or cannot finish and complete the work of faith in a man
They state that JESUS does indeed leave and or forsake one that he began faith in
They state the gifts of God are revocable
They state eternal is temporal based upon self effort
They state everlasting is not everlasting
They say that JESUS needs out help to maintain salvation
They state that we are NOT kept by the power of GOD but rather self effort
They pit PAUL and JAMES against each other
They deny the words of Paul are the words of JESUS
They conflate the Old and NEW
They deny the time frame of the words of JESUS (born, lived and died under the OLD/ratified the NEW)
They deny saved to the uttermost
They say the seal of GOD can be broken by man
They say GOD does not keep his word
They say GOD is INEPT
They deny Greek verb tense
They deny context or skew it
They yank verses and hang pints not made on said verses

We can go all day with the truths they deny, skew, twist and or flat reject by what they peddle...........by their very words and doctrines they peddle they do the above and make NO MISTAKE....they DO INDEED push the VERY SAME dogma that will be PUSHED by the MANY that stand before the LORD expecting to enter based upon what they have done in the name of JESUS

LORD, LORD, HAVE WE NOT DONE __________, ____________, _____________ in YOUR NAME.........

JESUS NEVER KNEW THEM, WHY?....THEY claim him as LORD and have DONE many wonderful works in HIS NAME

THE same thing MOST so called Christian religions on this planet do to this very day......

THEY (the many mentioned by JESUS) all claim JESUS as LORD and they ALL claim to do many wonderful works in HIS NAME.....why are they deemed still LOST and never saved?

BECAUSE ONLY ONE GOSPEL message has power to save......BY grace THROUGH FAITH!

WHEN ONE embellishes faith with ANY SELF EFFORT to gain or maintain salvation the gospel they PEDDLE IS VOID of POWER and has NO POWER TO SAVE, it is rendered inoperative, double cursed and ONLY FOOLS and BEWITCHED believe it....

FOLKS....do not BUY these salvation LOSERS and SELF MAINTAINED salvation peddlers....their GOSPELS are false.......trust JESUS BY FAITH and TRUST HIM to KEEP YOU as HE SAID HE WOULD!!!!!!!

As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is what he promised us—eternal life. - 1 John 2:24-25
You should read the entire chapter so as to understand its context.

The Book of 1st John chapter 2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
According to the 1 John 2:24-25 passage above, what happens to the person if what they heard in the beginning doesn't remain in them? Do they remain in the Son and the Father, or not?

but doubt would NOT disqualify one of His children...
If doubt disqualified us we'd all be in trouble.
Unbelief is the thing we have to be wary of:

12See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. - Hebrews 3:12-13

They do remain.
The passage is talking about those who did not accept the Good News. They did not believe in it, and as a consequence the Father does not abide in them.
They went out from us because they were not one of us.We are all one in Christ. There is no Jew, Gentile, rich, poor, male, female.

So the passage doesn't really mean what it says.

The passage is talking about those who did not accept the Good News.
In the passage, who is the "As for you" referring to?

22Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 23No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

24As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is what he promised us—eternal life.

1 John 2:22-25

And why do they have to see to it that what they heard from the beginning remains in them? Isn't that an automatic thing that they have no control over and just happens, according to osas?

For context: This ESV may help your understanding, rather than cutting the message into single lines.

The Book of 1st John chapter 2
Christ Our Advocate
2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

The New Commandment
7 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. 8 At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because[a] the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. 10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him[b] there is no cause for stumbling. 11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

12 I am writing to you, little children,
because your sins are forgiven for his name's sake.
13 I am writing to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
I write to you, children,
because you know the Father.
14 I write to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and the word of God abides in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life[c]—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Warning Concerning Antichrists
18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. 20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.[d] 21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he made to us[e]—eternal life.

26 I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. 27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

Children of God
28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. 29 If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

Yep.
If we who are members of the RedX club enjoy X'ing one another and receiving X's, it takes away from those who use the 'disagree' icon as more than just a means of showing their opinion differs from the one they X'd .
Know what I mean, jelly bean? :p

Judge's likes to say...

So the passage doesn't really mean what it says.

He should know this one well.....he does it all the time with the word of God.....especially when it comes to JESUS FINISHING AND COMPLETING the work of faith in a believer......

SO Judges....are you Ralph?
