The context ->>>Hebrews wanting to go back under an inferior way.....the writer goes to great lengths to state....outside of Jesus there is No sacrifice for sins....and where did I state they were unbelievers.......THE WHOLE BOOK is written to HEBREW believers to show the supeior position of Christ and an available position of REST afforded believers in this life!

So if they are believers, they will not do something that leads to wrath, like apostasy. Because Jesus has delivered us from the wrath to come. And apostasy leads to wrath. It follows then, believers will not do what this passage warns against, at the very least they will not remain in it

If they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us

That is not what I was trying to say. But rather someone who is born again is known by God relationally. So if Jesus spoke of born again believers, it would not make sense at all for him to say he never knew them.
You are correct....they were never saved and then lost it like some salvation losers like to peddle and it goes to the root of the "gospel" they put their trust in.....faith plus works to gain entrance <---this dog won't hunt, nor does it have power to save!

Some believe they are saved and are not. That is why the Bible tells us how we can know we are saved.

I know I’m saved because of what God has done and is doing in my life. Including granting me the gift of faith, which is something I could not have had apart from Him

He struggled with it? So he desires to stop? So he hates it, he counts it an enemy? Then it is a besetting sin.

So second option is possible, just like I said it was!

I later added that If I could do continue on that path blithely, I have no grounds to assume I’m saved
Then you just condemned pretty much everyone

way to go

I am divorced and remarried. Technically I am willfully committing adultry am I saved?

So the Receivers of Hebrews were believers. Therefore they could not fall under the wrath of God.

So if those who count the blood profane incur wrath, those that are saved will not abide in a state of apostasy like the sort Paul warned against.

The Bible clearly states that people can lose their salvation.
The apostle Paul warns Timothy about the dangers of making a shipwreck of his faith. (I Timothy 1:18-19)

In Hebrews 3:12-14 Christians are warned about the dangers of departing from the living God.

Hebrews 12:25 warns about turning away from the one who speaks from heaven!

II Peter 3:17 warns us about the dangers of being led away with the error of the wicked.

Heb 10:38 tells us "if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him."

Pro 14:14 The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways.

Jer 14:7 "our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you. Etc. etc.

Anyone who teaches differently from the Bible is a false teacher. People beware.

I know I am saved because I have been born again...that is an objective reality hard to miss...never once looked to my growth as evidence which is subjective.

So I would have to disagree.

The Bible does not say to divorce your second wife and go back to the first, so no, you are not in adultery and yes you are saved. ( probably)

You cannot go back and fix everything, neither do you need to. Love your second wife. Your first marriage and divorce are covered, imo

Never stated growth as an indicator. Always stated new birth, which is a resurrection to life as an indicator.

Not a problem, remember the thief on the cross? Perhaps we should all repent on our deathbed for sins committed after we are saved?
This reply is epitome of one who does not actually trust JESUS.......man........you are a joke

But there is nothing you just said that I disagree with. So you are disagreeing with someone else or else a false assumption about what I believe

Well when you state "is doing" I see that as a reference to sanctification.

So once again you are being contrary or hard to understand.

A "licence to live in sin" would be approval of sin. I have never heard even one person here who says God will allow them to live in sin with no chastening as a Father would do to correct His child.

Those here who believe in eternal security see sin as something horrible and to be delivered from. They just trust in Christ to justify them before God appart from works.

I have only heard people who love lies and hate truth act as if anyone who trusts in Christ has a "licence to live in sin" by definition.
AMEN.......another truth chunked by workers for, salvation losers and even some that are saved....GOD whips the crap out of us if we stay in a position rebellion

Jesus said as a man thinks in his heart, so is he, and all sin proceeds from the heart. You kind of have it backwards, friend.
You have it backwards in the sense that you think I am saying actions determine heart. Heart determines actions
