Dismissive answer you provide ..... It reminds me of hebrews calling us not to harden our hearts
Heb 3:12-14
See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.
Sin is a dangerous thing, let it stick around and it destroys our faith.
It is why we need the light of Jesus to cleanse and purify us from all ungodliness
Titus 2:12-14
It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
This language is alien to many, especially those with hard hearts.
