Do you teach that man is saved by grace through faith
plus obedience/works? I've been in multiple discussions over the years with Roman Catholics and Seventh Day Adventists who promote salvation by works and Revelation 22:14 is a common verse they quote to support salvation by works.
In Revelation 22:14, "do His commandments" does not mean that we merit eternal life based on the merits of our performance, but is the evidence that we have been granted eternal life through faith and are born of God. This is not about sinless perfection either. In 1 John 2:3, we read - By this we
know that we have come to know Him, *(already know Him/already saved/demonstrative evidence)* if we "keep" (Greek word "tereo" - guard, observe, watch over) His commandments. 4 The one who
says, “I have come to know Him,” and
does not keep (guard, observe, watch over) His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Other translations of Revelation 22:14 read, "Blessed are those who wash their robes," which symbolizes those who have been forgiven of their sins through the blood of the Lamb (Romans 3:24-26). *Also see Revelation 7:14. Revelation 22:15 is descriptive of unbelievers.
