I was telling you what your beloved church taught for a long time and are now waffling on in their desperation... to the point where even atheists can be saved if they are "good people" despite what the Bible plainly states, and against the very words of Jesus.
i can sense how strongly you feel about this so I will leave it at that.

The authority of the Catholic Church is a problem for many non Catholics.
But to replace the Church solely with the Bible. Sola Scriptura . That would be a huge hurdle for me. I dont believe the whole of Scripture is inerrant or even helpful/useful to read. I wont need to hear verses from Leviticus on my deathbed.
I dont mind Catholic theologians explaining the Bible. The average person is not competent enough to interpret by themselves.

The average person can receive Christ though, and trust in His sacrifice on the cross as payment for their sin, and ask Him into their heart and come to know Him and have a real relationship with Him. Then the average person can ask for help as he searches out the Truth, and God is kind and does help us when we ask🙂

My wife was Catholic. But she wasn't a practicing Catholic.

Then, when I came to Christ and was saved, my Wife and kids were saved as well.

And my wife understands the error of the Catholic church now. And why I had a problem with taking the kids to a Catholic church.

Any person who hasn't been to Christ and had the scriptures opened to them is not competent enough to interpret scriptures.

But everyone is an average person before coming to Christ.

I suspect the Catholic Church is not the only one to have committed error.

I suspect born agains are no more competent. But I might be wrong.

Being passionate for the Truth... yes. Aren't you? Well, some of my many siblings are still enmeshed in the monstrosity God was gracious enough to free me from. Their affection for the pomp and ritualistic displays is akin to yours, I suppose. I do not hold it against them, per se, but I do wonder if they are saved, though I do not press them on the matter. You have given us to know that you do not believe you are saved. Does a love of religion assure that one is on the way to being saved? No, I do not think so. Scripture tells us certain things so that we will know that we are saved. Wouldn't you rather know that, than enjoy ostentatiously presented falsehoods?

Its what the Catholic church has tried to teach the world.

That they are the only experts in what the scripture really means.

Real Christians who have been born again by Christ can easily spot the errors of Catholicism.

And you are correct. There are lots of other denominations making mistakes as well. The Catholics don't hold the patent on that one.

Some Catholics would consider me not Catholic enough. Because I do priotorise prayer and a personal relationship with God.
The existence of the Church seems a distraction sometimes. Two's company, three is a crowd??
So on a Catholic forum I will sound like a heretic to some. And interestingly the most conservative Catholics can be ex Protestants.

I dont venerate Mary enough for some Catholics. I see her more as a role model for women but I could be wrong.

It is interesting to acknowledge that, despite all its errors, and outright abuses, the RCC has been instrumental in some way in the safeguarding of Scripture, even as they vainly attempted to keep Scriptures out of the hands of lay people.

Yes. The bible tells us that there will be many people who say "Lord, Lord" but that the Lord doesn't know them.

The Lord Himself tells us that the only way to enter into the Kingdom of God is to be born again.

So there are real Christians. And there are those who call themselves Christians who aren't.

Same way with the Jewish.
