Cracks me up watching some folk trying to communicate with Spanish-speaking folk. After the second or third attempt, they start speaking s-l-o-w-l-y, as if it'll make a difference....
like in a Jackie Chan movie?

That is so true.

My native language is not English, and some people, when they hear a hint of an accent when I’m saying something, they start speaking either very slowly or very loudly.

Yea, I was going to say that it is true for multiple languages not just Spanish.

Now comes a better question. Which dialect of Spanish should we learn? Culo in Puerto Rico can mean buttox but in Mexico it also means rectum. This is confusing however it can also be insulting, embarrassing or hilarious depending upon the context and or the situation.

Well I actually find that word vulgar -.- and can be disrespectful.
