And I think we agree here. The Church is by no means the same as the churches. Many make that mistake, and assume that all in the churches who have been "saved" are part of the Church, the Body of Christ. By no means.
Those in the churches may have been "saved." But those in THE Church, will be those who have "overcome" and "walked worthy."
I disagree with the part I underlined ^ (what you are implying/inferring here).

Not all in "the churchES" are SAVED. Those who "overcome" ARE those who are "saved" ('are having been saved [perfect participle]'--Eph2:5).

"5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5:5

By not distinguishing that Rev2-3 is speaking "to the churchES" (which consist of BOTH "believers" AND those who are not actually SAVED), one can come to a totally incorrect viewpoint (<--"works salvation").
This is not addressed to "the Church WHICH IS HIS BODY" exclusively, as some other passages ARE. But "to the churchES" (made up of "believers" AND "those not actually saved" in the churchES)

And the Body of Christ, the Church is not all "saved" people by any means. Those who will be "united" to Him, His "co-heirs" are those few that traveled the "narrow Way" and proved themselves worthy in this life, being obedient to what God gave them.
This sounds like something a Pharisee would say...... the "works" are the narrow way.

When, the Truth is that the "works" of Yeshua/Jesus is The Narrow Way. He did the "works" of salvation for us with His Blood and Body.

The "works" we do now are for the Kingdom of God, NOT for salvation.
It is funny how I am constantly accused of saying we must "work" for salvation. WE DON'T! :D

It is to attain the promises of Rev 2 & 3, for which we must be proven worthy, by our Repentance (actually turning away from sin as the word means in the Biblical Greek), Obedience (which the Word says we must be), and remaining Faithful til the end.

The modern ear-tickling message has sadly sunk deep into the churches and has led the great bulk of church-goers astray. :(
limmuwd,

Peter encourages Believers to live godly holy lives but, we need never preach godliness and holiness under the fear or confusion of ever losing our salvation or proof of our salvation. We are all not finished yet, God is still working on us.

We grow and mature in the Word with the Holy Spirit teaching, counselling, comforting, guiding, instructing and correcting us in the things that pertain to the Kingdom of God, which includes living godly holy lives, set apart for God purpose.

We don't immediately walk in love, we have to learn to walk in love. We immediately have the desire to but, we have to learn to.

I believe you love God, it is well with you! God bless you.(y)

I think a Pharisee would say, "Blasphemy!! Yeshua/Jesus is calling Himself God!":giggle:
For those who are not that familiar with the Scriptures they never hear from their "pastor" ...

79 times in the Gospels Jesus refers to Himself as the "Son of Man"
5 times He refers to Himself as the "Son of God"
47 times He is called by others the "Son of God", or "God's Son"
5 times He is referred to as the Son begotten of God, or "begotten of the Father"
4 times God, Himself, speaks from heaven and declares Jesus to be His Son

0 times does Jesus refer to Himself as God

And 4 times Jesus refers to the One He calls "My God." Oh, yes, Jesus has a God! (Paul affirms this several times in his letters as well. )

And before I am hounded with "I and My Father are One", (a verse which wouldn't negate hundreds of other passages anyway), I would encourage you to read John 17:20-23 and 1Cor 15:20-28, for they speak of the relationship between the Father and the Son, and how God's Elect will as well, be "One" with Christ as He is "One" with God.

God's Wisdom and Understanding to all.
I think Yeshua/Jesus would like to ask you (limmuwd) a question.......

"Who do you say that I am?"

Reading Scripture we see several times where Jesus removed Himself from the crowds to rest and spend quality time with the Father.

It’s great sitting back with a cold one watching others handle false prophets. 😎🍻

Sadly, he thinks he has it figured out.:(
Well, it’s a question that Yeshua/Jesus Christ will probably be asking us at the Judgment Seat of Christ......

Isaiah 43:11 ( NKJV ):" I, even I, am the LORD, And besides me there is no Savior."

Isaiah 45:5( NKJV ): "I am the LORD and there is no other; there is no God besides me, I will gird you, though you have not known me"

Phillipians 2:10-11 ( NKJV ):" that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Jesus Christ is LORD.

Denying Jesus divinity disqualifies one from being a Christian. I knew you didn't believe in the Trinity, even though I showed you conclusive evidence that ALL 3 members of the Trinity were Present and separate at Jesus' Baptism.

But I didn't know your heresy runs even deeper to include the denial that Jesus IS God.

Here is Jesus saying He was the voice in the burning bush.
John 8:58-59 New King James Version (NKJV)
58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Anyone even glancing through this thread can see much of the carnal nature "that will not inherit the Kingdom of God" displayed.

"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God." - Gal 5:19-21

Do those behind the pulpits on Sunday mornings not teach this Truth? This message of Paul, by the Holy Spirit, is directed to "saved" people. He is warning the "believer" that if these attributes are in us, we will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God. We could recite a 'sinner's prayer' every morning, and get baptized in water every night, and we still will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God, if we do not repent of these sinful behaviors and attitudes.

Yet it seems so many "pastors" today refuse to consent to the very Words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the doctrine which accords with godliness of conduct.

"If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself." - 1Tim 6:3-5

May we be among the few who "conduct themselves worthy of the gospel of Christ."

Amen.
Blah blah blah and in this post I see a self righteous hypocritial judge that 100% reminds me of a Pharisee of old!

I'll let the Word answer -

"Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me." - John 14:23-24

And while we are at it... how many on this forum are following that commandment? I've been shown much the opposite of the "love" that God requires of those who will "come after" Jesus.
Do not conflate our stance for God, His Truth and our biblical stance against your false gospel of self help guru salvation with the love of God.....false gospels, like the one you peddle, will not be coddled and or appeased by the fake love your purport!

So, what you are basically stating is that I challenge your thinking and knowledge and you have no response,

except to state that you have been commissioned by God to teach which is EXACTLY what false teachers typically claim over and over again.

As well, in your warped view, because we refute your false doctrine that adds credibility to your false doctrine.

Still waiting on "metanoia"

You have to deal with one word that challenges you.
Do not cut him an ounce of slack....he denied the three in one (concerning God) above.....I smell a JW......

It does not get any plainer..........Our righteous works have ZERO to do with Salvation!

English Standard Version
he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Berean Study Bible
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Berean Literal Bible
He saved us, not by works in righteousness that we did, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

New American Standard Bible
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

King James Bible
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
We are saved through favor to do good works. If you do not do good works, then you are no longer under favor, but under wrath, for good works is required of all of us. You deceive yourself if you think good works are not required. An apple tree that bears bad apples is just as useless as an apple tree that bears no good apples. Both will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

Welcome to CC!!

There... I did my good work for today. Guess I'm good til tomorrow.

So tell me chief, just how many good works do we have to do to stay saved? Be specific! Lord knows I don't want to lose what Jesus has done for me.
