LOL. You got the wrong answer there @BillG "I want to be like Jesus" is what you said well guess what, thats not surrendering to the Lord according to Mr Pisteuo here.

The right answer is................. You need to be "faithing" yourself into the kingdom. Work yourself to the bone, but uhh, just remember, dont expect anything in return :) Thats part of the 'faithing' verb gimmick. I know 100% of church history missed this but DONT LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU
We got mr. Pisteuo set us straight. We've all been lost until he came along.

No I'm asking you to actually read what I'm saying.
I have also asked you to provide a link to vines and strongs that back up your words.
Even asked you to copy and paste them from your resources.

Yet you have not.

Yet I have.

I copied the Vines off the internet. The new Strong's expanded , with the best of Vines a have in print but can't find it for you online. Imagine that , not showing the contents online do you have to buy the book. It's only like 10 bucks, !ight be worth it.

One more misrepresentation, or discussion is over.

Church history kind of changes around the 1500's when the most important Greek word was mistranslated into the English language.

Nothing about wanting to be like Christ in the Greek definitions of pisteuo. That doesn't mean you could not have that desire. It's just not saving Faith.

Ok so what is it?

We're going in circles Bill.

We are called by the Father to Christ. We then repent which is just turning from our way to the way of the caller. If we choose to, we then take our first step of pisteuo or Faith, faithing towards God.

What that first step is, is a genuine, personal, surrendering of our lives to Him," Christ ". Believing, that He will accept the surrendered life, we make decisions throughout our day, that show God we really have given our life and will to Him. That it's not ours anymore but His now!

This exact surrender, if we continue to choose to do so, is done in exactly the same way every day. Each day our surrendered life is being perfected by Him. it's not about a perfect surrendered life, but must be a genuine one. A half measure will avail nothing. Expecting something in return, which is kind of natural for us, will slowly fall away. We will begin to have a real personal relationship with Christ. He will secretly be perfecting our surrendered life to Him, and He will respond in secret to us.
Eventually, if the surrendered life is tested and accepted by God, He will seal in the Spirit of Christ making Christ, His word, and the promises in His word ours to compare to. His word becomes like a reflection of others who have surrendered their lives before us. We will see the reflection of our surrendered life in His word

And the World is watching. Many come to this site to see if there is anything real to this "Christian Faith" they've heard about. What do they see?

As well, we are "surrounded by a cloud of witnesses." Indeed the angels, the Son,and the Father are watching us all, especially those who "claim His Name." God is looking to see if the Light of His Son is shining in us. Are we running our race well. Are we "conducting ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ." (Phil 1:27)

Sadly, I believe the rebuke of the Apostle, and of the Lord Himself, would be to us, "you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?" (1Cor 3:3)

Paul said he was grieved that those in the church had not repented, and that when he came he would find "quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder." Sadly, he would find much of the same here as well.

Where are those "good works" that God desires from us? Without them we show we have not known God.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matt 5:16

"Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation." - 1Pet 2:11-12

Again, I agree with Paul's prayer for the church, for us, "that we may be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that we will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." (Col 1:9-10)

Amen.

Have you read 5 Volumes "The Collected Writings of W.E. Vine"? Copied off also on the internet. In volume 2 p.43. Vine has some 'private interpretation' in 1 Corinthians 6:11 stated “…the form of the verb here does not signify “ye are washed”(A.V.), nor “ye were washed” (R.V.), but rather “ye washed yourself,” R.V.margin” Vine verbs question salvation, you have to take note it is "ye" plural form of YOU who do the washing, not the works of the Holy Spirit and the word anymore.

No such thing as eternal security, as long as men still live in the tents of their flesh (bodies), they are required to work out their salvation in fear and trembling. If this is butchering the word of God then i think i'm home.
This right here proves that you do not understand the word of God!

Oh dear typing too fast.......... and cutting back on coffee to maintain my youthful appearance LOL

Should read...

Since you have redefined "believe" beyond what it means in context of scripture........ you have to denigrate the word "believe" and what it means within the framework of the Gospel.

Ok.......time for proof of the above hahaha ;)

I don't lean on Vines for truth, only valadation of it. Nothing gives a clearer picture than just having experienced the true born again experience.
