A man proposes to his showcase trophy girlfriend and she accepts. They abstain from premarital sex yet he has a confident expectation to make love to her once they are married. He already has her but there is so much more awaiting their future together. That’s confident expectation.
1. This is a bad analogy because the man has confident expectation for sex and not a girlfriend; he already has one

2. Biblically speaking, there's no such thing as premarital sex; sex itself is marriage. A man shall leave his parents and be enjoined to a woman and these two shall be one flesh. They don't become one flesh after exchanging vows and Paul says, the one who enjoins his body to a prostitute has become one flesh with the prostitute.

3. This is not me asking, but Paul:

Rom 8:24..... Who hopes for what they already have? 25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Do you have anything against what Paul said?

You are basically wrong equating knowledge is salvation. You forgot the scripture says "And this is life eternal, that... meaning this is to state a result, purpose or cause. oh boy...
Ha! You greatly misunderstand me friend. I in no way believe that "knowledge is salvation."
Those who have heard me preach & teach over the years would get quite a chuckle out of that "gnostic" statement!

What Jesus said is "Eternal Life" is to know Him and the Father.

An apparent misunderstanding in the "Christian" Religion today, is that many believe that "salvation" = "Eternal Life."
They are not synonymous. "Salvation" should lead to "Eternal Life" but they are quite different ends of the spectrum.

In return for what? It is God’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom of heaven. We are simply beneficiaries. To God be the glory.
So now you're not going to stand on your own words?

You words are " you believe to receive!"

How can I be trusting in myself when I've surrendered my life to Him. It's not mine anymore, it's His now!
Umm, and when did you surrender your life to him? Define surrender and what Greek word is it? perhaps this is your favorite?

* " for He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that we could become the Righteousness of God in Him."

so, that is how our righteousness surpasses the Pharisees.

next.
"Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous." - 1John 3:7

Imputed righteous gets us started on the Path. But in that Day, we will be judged by actual righteousness.
If we are not actually "practicing righteousness", doing those "righteous deeds" which is what will "clothe us" in that Day, we will not be counted "righteous" in God's sight. (see Rev 19:8)

I posted earlier part one of this teaching on the "Righteousness" that God requires of those who will inherit the Kingdom.
Next is part 2 ;)

My personal prayer is that the churches today would teach the whole Truth of the Gospel.... Friends, God determines whether we are a "Christian" by what we do (our choices, our deeds, our actions), not by what we say we believe in.
Never does God judge or reward anyone by their confessed belief, their doctrine or statement of faith. He judges and rewards all men according to our works. (see Psalm 62:12, Prov 24:12, Jer 17:10, Jer 32:19, Eze 33:20, Lam 3:64, Matt 16:27, John 5:29, Rom 2:6, Rom 14:12, 2 Cor 5:10, 1Pet 1:17, Rev 20:12, and Rev 22:12 for starters)

Of a Truth, our eternal destiny in determined by our obedience and our behavior in this life.

Jesus taught this. The Apostles taught this.

Looking here at a passage that you'll seldom here from a pulpit, as it goes against much modern man-made theology.

"...God judge or reward anyone by their confessed belief, their doctrine or statement of faith. He judges and rewards all men according to our works. " This might be a fine statement for God rewards believers according to his works. Remember salvation(made free from sin)/ eternal life is a gift.

Romans 6:22-23
22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

"Of a Truth, our eternal destiny in determined by our obedience and our behavior in this life."

This is not a true statement with no biblical support.

Isaiah 46:12
Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are now far from my righteousness.
Exactly! And the Lord is speaking to His people here, not the world.
Jesus says again to God's people in the Gospel's -

‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,

Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."
- Matt 15:8-9

The doctrines and traditions of men tell us that 'faith alone' makes one worthy, yet the Scripture declares we must be "righteous" in our behavior if God will call us "righteous" in that Day.

I would say 'faith alone in Christ"

The entire Bible supports that Truth. :)

I gave only a handful of passages above. Have you read them? I know many haven't heard them from their 'pastor' or 'priest' but God, Jesus, the Prophets and Apostles declared them, so I take the Word of God above the wishful thinking of man.

John 5:28-29 alone is sufficient for me to stand upon what I believe and have been teaching for years now. :)

"Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation." - John 5:29-29

No verse can cancel out what Jesus declares here. Period. The Word cannot be broken.

What we do matters tremendously, and determines our place in Eternity.

Michael

Wrong, wrong, wrong!!

Our eternal destiny is based on the work and promises of Christ Jesus.

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14

No one, absolutely no one, has yet to answer this question ....maybe you will be the first, but not likely

How many works of righteousness save us, how much good behaviour saves us?

...I want a metric, a numeric value because in Jesus we have 100% perfect

Those who have done good have believed on/trusted in Him for the gift of eternal life, a present secure possession for those who have trusted Christ Jesus for it based on HIS work.

How many? All. We were created for them so we must do all.

Ezek 18:
20...... The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.

21“But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. 22None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live. 23Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

24“But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.

25“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust? 26If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, they will die for it; because of the sin they have committed they will die. 27But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life. 28Because they consider all the offenses they have committed and turn away from them, that person will surely live; they will not die. 29Yet the Israelites say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are my ways unjust, people of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?

I have no problem stating that your false doctrine is a direct attempt to steal from the Glory, Victory, Grace that belongs only to Christ Jesus and and somehow twist it to make your victory and your glory.

It is a complete offense!!

God knows our hearts and our value rests on who He says we are. Our value for eternity is backed by God’s promise that whoever believes in Jesus will have everlasting life. If we wholeheartedly give our will and life over to the care of God, that’s a promise that will be fulfilled!

Yap, but you are the one who cut the words of our Lord Jesus in preceding verse 24 which says

24Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

So that those who believeth in him have everlasting life, it follows then that are they who do good things in God's sight. But for those who believeth not which followed evil will be to eternal damnation as they get resurrected.
