Would you please exegete 1 John 3:9 for me. How a person interprets this text reveals if they have gnostic tendencies or not.
How in the heck do you equate gnosticism with 1 John 3:9? And for the record, everyone sins. If you say you do not sin then you’re calling God a liar. So which is it, are you a sinner or a liar? Remember, if you’re a liar that makes you a sinner.

1 John is a polemic against protognosticism. Just exegete the text for me please

The fault of any misunderstanding does not fall on me. the fact that you do not recognize a descriptive statement, and confuse it for a prescriptive statement is on you, not on me

You can make things right by interpreting my words as descriptive, which is only reasonable, seeing I have pointed this out to you

And why do my words cause confusion. Because people read into them. UG just said that I said that sin confession keeps us regenerated. She totally read that into my words. If you show me where I said that, I will admit that I am an utter heretic, because I would be. So I challenge you to show me where I said what she claimed
Your words should not need to be interpreted; your words should be straightforward. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. It’s not rocket science.

They were straightforward. You and UG TWIST them. And the Bible is straightforward, yet you have to interpret it. Pratfall after pratfall after pratfall

A stain interpretation of that text reveals gnostic tendencies. Take the plunge and exegete it

Oh, and descriptive statements ARE straightforward. Only you would say they’re not. Pratfall

People like Christian liars ( you for example) turn Gods grace into a license to sin, and use scripture to defend it
Steady on old chap.

You have accused @Lightskin of being a liar.

Further you use it on the basis of Christan liars.
By inference someone who lies is looking to deceive.

To deceive is totally different from being deceived.

Interesting though you have accused others of a personal attack and yet you personally attacked the above person by calling them a liar.

On a side note I do not agree with personal attacks.

Under grace said in her last post that I believe sin confession keeps us regenerate. Apparently, she doesn’t know the difference between sin confession maintaining fellowship, ( by removing our sense of guilt) and maintaining regeneration. It is blatant errors like this, her latest among many, is why you all get so confused

This is a clear example of how I have been misrepresented again and again. And you think the blame is on me. I’m to blame because people don’t know simple things like the difference between maintained fellowship and maintained regeneration.

Thank you @UnderGrace for making my point for me splendidly.

Waiting for @UnderGrace to show me where I said sin confession keeps us regenerate🤪
I agree fully that sin confession is to maintain fellowship with God.
To confess is to agree with God we got it wrong, fess it up.

Nothing worse than carrying guilt as a result of sin.
I personally think it's for our benefit to confess because it can lead to us being fearful of coming before the Father.

Though I would be interested to know what you mean by maintained regeneration.

Amen, brother. I’m prone to making mistakes for sure, but lying is not one of them. I can handle personal insults, in fact, I kind of enjoy them, but I’m a fierce defender of God’s grace and don’t take kindly to people putting stumbling blocks in front of others. Thank you for your kind words. God bless you.

Yeah, she’s evil like that, for sure. 🙄 In other news, drinking tap water makes you thirsty.
Well, if she has integrity, she will either give substance to her accusation or admit she was mistaken. But this has happened with her many times in the past, and I can’t remember one time she did either that’s why I call her hit and run. She lies about you and then when called on it, she goes silent on the matter

I don’t. 😂 it’s something @UnderGrace attributed to me. She comes out of the blue and goes into the black

Amen it shouldn't be this difficult. The Bible needs no commentary from Dr. theologians and seminary educated parrots. Reason we got so pastors blessing their church members to heaven convincing them that they are saved no matter how they live. Love of money! If you feel bad about your sins its the devil trying to condemn you they say. OR PERHAPS, just maybe, its the Holy Spirit of God convicting you of sin. That is the real danger of OSAS, the people who go to these churches for too long, have their conscience seared and eventually are beyond the point of repentance.

The Bible is clear, pick it up and read it. Read about the final judgment in Matthew 25:31-46 and elsewhere and tell me again how works are completely irrelevant.

Could it be that modern churchianity has completely taken "not of works" and blown it out of proportion, instead of looking at the context and time in which it was written in? Pharisees in the church saying you need to be circumcised to be saved. Acts 15 is all about that, it was a big deal then. Now its not, no church I know of teaches you have to be circumcised to be saved.

Well he accused me of being a works Salvationist and is joining together with someone who accused me of saying that confession maintains regeneration. I have challenged them to show where I said any of that. So if they make an accusation without any documentation, will not admit they have no documentation for what the say, they may have been mistaken in the beginning, but now are lying because they do not come clean. Sometimes you can lie without saying a word

So it’s not a personal attack. They say things that are not true, and continue in it even when challenged. And it’s obvious they know I didn’t say such things. If you can show me where I taught works salvation or regeneration maintained by good works, or if they can, I will apologize to all of you.

Won’t happen though. I’ve been down this false accusation from UG before, and it’s always the same

Undergrace accused me of saying regeneration maintained by sin confession. Either she misread a simple statement, ( I know exactly which one, the one where I said fellowship maintained by sin confession), or she does not have a correct understanding of regeneration.

So then either show me where I taught “works or else” or admit you misspoke.

Saying that I said “works or else” could be a error on your part, but to maintain it while confronted would be a lie

So will you admit you had no basis for saying that. Because if you don’t, you are maintaining it, which is a lie. And so far, Undergrace is still maintaining that I said regeneration maintained by good works. If she admits her error, well. But she does not have a good track record in similar situations
