Would anyone be able to take the time to read
this answer to the prayer where it says "But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve". I guess I'm confused about salvation. I was reading this answer and I would like to know did Jesus Christ take the punishment that we deserve? Is that implied in Jesus Christ dying for us and Jesus Christ's death paying the price for our sins? I might be wrong but they include "But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve" in the prayer but don't really explain that in the answer.
And to anyone following my recent threads and posts I may seem sort of all over the place, but please bear with me.
It’s a lot to read but essentially the answer is Yes.
Imagine for a moment that you had committed a horrendous crime and the penalty was
the death sentence, electric chair, lethal injection etc.
Then just as you were about to be executed, a person came along and told everyone
“I love Lee so much that I can’t let his life end like this, I will take his place.”
That is essentially what Jesus did for you and for every human being. ♥️
Then imagine if people decided, well I’m not sure about all this, I think I will
just get on with my own life and when it’s my time to be executed well that’s that.
The people who reject the free gift of life, do exactly that.
The people who accept the free gift and believe in the salvation and the saving power of
Jesus, become spiritually born again.
Physically we are not born again, our physical bodies continue to decay, grow old and
will die. It’s the spiritual part of us that is born again and goes on after the physical
body has died. It’s the spiritual part of us which is really us.
Those who don’t know God experience a second death after the physical death.
Revelation 2:11 NKJV
[11] "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."'
Revelation 2:11 NLT
[11] "Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death.
Many who do not believe in God, think that when your body dies, that’s the end.
What do you believe? That’s the bigger question.
If you don’t believe in God or that we are body, soul and spirit, then you need to
start off with that and think why you feel this way. Personally I think there is
more evidence for creation than there is for evolution. I know God as my God.
He answers my prayers, He gives me amazing dreams, words of knowledge, I’ve
experienced his healing and so much more.
If you do believe in God and that we live on after death - then what will you do with
that knowledge. Will you throw away the free gift of life you have been given and
accept what Jesus has done for you? Or will you reject that gift?
