Would anyone be able to take the time to read this answer to the prayer where it says "But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve". I guess I'm confused about salvation. I was reading this answer and I would like to know did Jesus Christ take the punishment that we deserve? Is that implied in Jesus Christ dying for us and Jesus Christ's death paying the price for our sins? I might be wrong but they include "But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve" in the prayer but don't really explain that in the answer.

And to anyone following my recent threads and posts I may seem sort of all over the place, but please bear with me.

Isaiah 53

1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

It’s a lot to read but essentially the answer is Yes.

Imagine for a moment that you had committed a horrendous crime and the penalty was
the death sentence, electric chair, lethal injection etc.
Then just as you were about to be executed, a person came along and told everyone
“I love Lee so much that I can’t let his life end like this, I will take his place.”

That is essentially what Jesus did for you and for every human being. ♥️

Then imagine if people decided, well I’m not sure about all this, I think I will
just get on with my own life and when it’s my time to be executed well that’s that.
The people who reject the free gift of life, do exactly that.

The people who accept the free gift and believe in the salvation and the saving power of
Jesus, become spiritually born again.

Physically we are not born again, our physical bodies continue to decay, grow old and
will die. It’s the spiritual part of us that is born again and goes on after the physical
body has died. It’s the spiritual part of us which is really us.

Those who don’t know God experience a second death after the physical death.

Revelation 2:11 NKJV
[11] "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."'

Revelation 2:11 NLT
[11] "Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death.

Many who do not believe in God, think that when your body dies, that’s the end.

What do you believe? That’s the bigger question.

If you don’t believe in God or that we are body, soul and spirit, then you need to
start off with that and think why you feel this way. Personally I think there is
more evidence for creation than there is for evolution. I know God as my God.
He answers my prayers, He gives me amazing dreams, words of knowledge, I’ve
experienced his healing and so much more.

If you do believe in God and that we live on after death - then what will you do with
that knowledge. Will you throw away the free gift of life you have been given and
accept what Jesus has done for you? Or will you reject that gift?

You are asking the same questions over and over again. Which does not bode well. Christ did indeed pay the penalty for all the sins of the world. He was SMITTEN OF GOD AND AFFLICTED. You can either rest in this fact, or go on wondering.

I believe that when you die you go to Hell or Hades (not sure of the correct name) if you are not saved and if you are saved your spirit goes to Heaven.

I will definitely not throw away the free gift of life that is being given to me. I guess I have been trying to find out how someone is saved and this involved asking the same questions over and over which may have been frustrating for people, but I think maybe my understanding was being built up through what I was doing so that I could understand the answers (in retrospect, sort of, and the answer you gave me), maybe in spite of mistakes I was making.

With the help of God (maybe the Holy Spirit, primarily).

Or your soul goes to Heaven, or both soul and spirit maybe.

Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord; that He is the Son of God; that He left Heaven to die on the Cross for you and all people; and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead in three days. Whosoever believes this in their heart will receive eternal life.

For sanctification place and maintain your Faith in Christ and what Christ accomplished on the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won and receive the help of the Holy Spirit.

I was asking did Jesus Christ take the punishment that we deserve (if I'm not mistaken about that).

It might help if I share something about me, my youngest brother might have FAS and I think there is a possibility I might have it to a small degree, but I might not. My mom drank and she might have drank with my brother, and me, but maybe not in both cases (she might have denied drinking with my brother). if I were to talk to my psychiatrist I might be diagnosed with ADHD or another disorder, and I might be diagnosed with schizophrenia right now.

do you think a sinner should be flogged?
Could you expand on what you wrote more? If the sinner broke a law and the legal punishment was flogging, say they raped a kid and killed someone, then yes I guess, I'm not completely sure though. I guess the death sentence would be warranted, but maybe not flogging considering what flogging is and justice today.

How are people saved - big question with lots of answers.
I honestly think you would be better to ask Jesus that question.
Prayer and ask him to show you.

It’s not so much about what we do, it’s all about Jesus.
He gives us the unction to seek him, he gives us the desire to question
and find the answer, he does the work in our life. It’s all about Jesus.

Lee the fact that you are seeking answers means Jesus is already at work in you!
Keep pressing in! ♥️

John 6:43-44 NKJV
[43] Jesus therefore answered and said to them, "Do not murmur among yourselves. [44] No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Matthew 7:7-11 NKJV
[7] "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. [8] For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. [9] Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? [10] Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? [11] If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

He was SMITTEN OF GOD AND AFFLICTED.
the verse says we esteemed Him smitten of God and afflicted.

we esteemed Him afflicted but the reality is that surely He has borne our grief

'esteemed' is like 'we thought' -- we, who all like sheep have gone astray.
we thought He was smitten by God. the reality is that He bearing our griefs and carrying our sorrows.

God was not unjustly punishing the innocent on the cross.
God was voluntarily standing in the gap for us, taking upon Himself what we deserve.

but we, who all like sheep have gone astray, esteemed Him smitten of God.

1 Corinthians 15:3 (NIV) - For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

What does "that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures," mean? Could you answer this question, posthuman?

flogging was a punishment in those days, rather it was Romans or Jews. In the Jewish religion of the times there was guide lines on it. the Pharisees altered that as well from 40 lashes to 39, that gave them the ability in their eyes to beat a person to a inch of their life, if a person died at the hands of a Pharisee and 40 lashes wasn’t reached then he wasn’t liable for the death.
