I'm not going to look back to find the posts that I wanted to quote.

There are a handful of reasons why mentally unstable persons can consistently acquire firearms legally.

The background check process requires a person to self certify that they are not mentally unstable. Other than persons who have been committed against their will (this requires a court order that is extremely difficult to get) no background check will ever turn up mental heath issues. We have medical privacy laws that keep mental health records private in the same way that every other medical record is private.

Likewise, most persons who have mental health issues will never randomly shoot a place up.

Of course the only time political affiliations of mass shooters are broadcast non-stop on the evening news is when said affiliations fit the required narrative.
The El Paso shooter's racist "white nationalist" affiliation is broadcast non-stop because it fits the narrative the Left needs. The Dayton shooter's extreme leftist affiliations have been all but ignored by the media because it goes against the narrative.

I have noticed that tonight.......and even the one dude said he had this view before Trump which they reported exactly once........I can tell you....the left (primarily) is way more dishonest, corrupt than the right and lies like dogs about many things......makes me sick as an American......and really PEEVES me off to put it acceptably for CC audiences......

On a side note.....

1600 shootings in Chicago this year already and 200 dead <---a left wing run city with some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and a FOID card required in Illinois to even own a gun or have 1 round of AMMO in your possession.......

I do not hear the LEFT speaking on this subject.....

Also I would like to add that gang violence and domestic terrorism are two entirely different subjects
When a person joins a gang, he is fully aware that he is assuming the risk of getting killed. I shouldn't have to worry about getting killed going to Walmart to buy a box of Pop-Tarts
after considering this post I came to the following conclusion:

I think the pop tarts are cheaper at dollar general.

I don't eat pop tarts though

I meant gang warfare and drugs are pretty much a different subject. )People that have become radicalized or have paranoid antisocial personality disorder, or all of the above. The insanity defense won't hold water. They know fully well that they breaking the law even, if they believe their perceived enemies are the enemies of the state or what ever god (small 'G') religion or political agenda they have chosen to follow.

BTW I've never heard of a so called liberal or illegal immigrant going somewhere like a mall in some place like Irvine, Leisure World, or San Clemente California and shooting some place apart because it's full of rich white conservatives. Have you?
well sounds like you have it all figured out

hang on...I've got the number here for the hotline for concerned citizens solving crime since never...now where did I put it?

why would an illegal ALIEN go on a shooting spree? they don't want to be caught and deported

is that the answer that makes the most sense? works for me

but here is something you might consider

TOTAL CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS BY TYPE

Names such as.....

Mercy Hospital shooting Chicago, IL 11/19/18 Juan Lopez, 32
T&T Trucking shooting Bakersfield, CA 9/12/18 Javier Casarez, 54
Fifth Third Center shooting Cincinnati, OH 9/6/18 Omar Enrique Santa Perez, 29
Fort Lauderdale airport shooting Fort Lauderdale, Florida 1/6/2017 Esteban Santiago, 26

I realize psychos come in all races and creeds however the number of purely racially or politicly motivated acts of terrorism in this nation by far are out numbered by domestic terrorists who have right wing inclinations. I realize it is an anomaly and by far. Republican leaning citizens seem to be more responsible than their liberal leaning counter parts. However the ones who go off track seem to be the right wingers like Tim Mc Vey.

But it brings up another often undiscussed topic. Much of this nation like Florida, Texas and California were Spanish territories before there was an America to join. California and Texas were Mexican territories that rebelled against Mexico much like our founding fathers did and were free independent republics before joining the United States. I know Mexican Americans who's family trees were in what is now our country before it was our country. Their forefathers never needed to go back to Mexico because Texas and California was Mexico. New Mexico and Nevada too. I just don't know many people from there. I've lived in L.A., San Diego, Santa Ana, San Antonio and Houston.

There are many Hispanic American's whose root go back here over 400 years...

Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo died of blood poisoning as the result of a compound fracture incurred in a battle with Native Americans over Santa Catalina Island in 1543 and was buried on Santa Barbara island. They claimed California for Spain till the Mexicans there revolted against Spain. Then they revolted against Mexico in 1838.

We could see Catalina island from the steps of my High School in San Pedro, Calif. which joined the United States by choice after defeating Mexico and became a state partially due to the gold rush.

Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo (1497 – January 3, 1543) was a Spanish explorer born in Palma del Rio, Córdoba, Spain, although he is also claimed by tradition as a native of Portugal. Among other things he was a maritime navigator known for exploring the West Coast of North America on behalf of the Spanish Empire. Cabrillo was the first European to navigate the coast of present-day California. He is best known for his exploration of the coast of California in 1542–1543.

In Texas there is a place called the Alamo that stands as a reminder that former Mexican citizens fought and won against tyranny here too.

Almost every time we have a mass shooting, it's done by a white nationalist. America has a problem that a wall isn't going to fix
Two totally UNRELATED issues.

Actually the wall would fix (eliminate) a whole host of problems. It should have been built 100 years ago, but at the very least by the end of 2018. Shame on Mr. Trump for this major failure in administrative action.

As to mass shootings, they have been going on for decades, since there are always going to be some extremely crazy people who happened to get their hands on guns. And gun control would make absolutely no difference, since that is simply an excuse to promote governmental tyranny. But the media simply love these incidents and go on and on an on with their Fake News.

Nobody said it's OK but that sounds small compared to the greater number of 61,616 murders total from 2016-2013.>

I must qualify my attitude because the area I grew up in was 40% Latino, mainly Mexican American's first. Followed by 1st & 2nd generation Italian and or Slavic's. I never felt that Mexicans were foreigner's and a southern or North eastern accent sounded more foreign to me than a Spanish or Italian accent. They were my friends, neighbors, elders, Priests and nuns.

California history was required to graduate High School and that of course included some native American and plenty of Spanish and Mexican American local history. As Americana's I think it would be a travesty to ignore our nations plentiful and hard fought battle for equality along non racial lines and fight for unity not segregation.

Huh? do you think anybody afraid to get caught committing multiple capitol offences would worry about getting deported? How 'bout getting shot full of holes, (called suicide by police), gang raped and 20 years of prison, before getting executed? In Texas Oklahoma or Florida when they/we say, Death by lethal injection, electric chair or hanging. It's legal.

well it sounds like you re qualifying what you said

it would be interesting to consider the numbers of crimes committed by alien invaders who trespass against the laws of the US the moment they stick a toe over the boundary...or hang off the fencing

what I quoted makes a big statement. now you seem to want to point to Americans

this is not a conversation that gets anywhere

apparently you and I do not follow the same information sources

I was being a tad sarcastic there but I guess you didn't catch that

anyway, executions will be getting more common and carried out quicker it would seem (Bill Barr)

no one should be on death row for 20 years

no one is disputing people who have gone through the process of being in the US legally

however, illegals are now coming in like an invasion...you would not believe what all I had to go through to live in the US. extensive paperwork and documentation, history of my life, police documentation (I have no record and had to prove it) and of course being able to prove I can live here without dependence on the American taxpayer. all of that and more (including vaccinations which were ridiculous since I was coming from Canada and had already had any vaccinations anyone gets here) and even all that required an interview at the American consulate in Montreal, which I had to travel to from another province.

honestly? I don't think you are making a whole lot of sense and I am not sure what point you are trying to make since you keep sorting it out

I work, I pay taxes and I have health care that I pay for.

no thanks

All those extremists and their ill doings, both left and right, is a problem the nation has to solve.

This is not so much about guns. It’s about the human mind. Some people will not accept that there’s an alternative to their own thinking. A few of them are even willing to dehumanize and kill everyone not in total agreement with them. At some point it is a possibility that a person carrying extreme opinions will realize that he (or she) hasn’t got the support he (or she) is entitled to.

What’s next then?

Acting up! That’s what!

Spoiled brats thinking they are entitled to the world, and when the world doesn’t play ball, well, then be acting like spoiled brats always has: go crazy...but when a three year old goes crazy, it can be handled. When a 23 year old goes crazy, he or she is more often than not quite a handful...

@7seasrekeyed My point is not to forget what our neighbors and ancestors went through to get here. What the Hebrews went through in Egypt and Babylon and how valuable freedom really is. We shouldn't act like Daffy Duck after finding a treasure and saying "Mine, mine, mine all mine" as if God can't take it away. To me guns aren't the . It's extremist thinking. Contraband always becomes more valuable, sought after and collectable and if we outlaw guns only outlaws will have them. It's a lose-lose idea altogether. I'm siding with @Susanna ,Thanks for sharing.

I heard a debate between two peeps on a news show about this, one was a republican and the other democratic. the dem person said only 5% of fire arm violence are from people who have mental illness. I had to look up how many people have mental illness in the U.S. well it’s staggering only 50% of all mental illnesses are diagnosed and or are being treated. that means that 5% is a bogus number because 50% of all mental health issues are not reported/diagnosed. yet we need more gun control I don’t get it.

Our tax money would be better spent south of the border than across the sea. Drug Cartels like the Sinaloa Gang, narco terrorists, The Mexican Mafia and MS13 are a larger threat than the opium road from India to China and there's just as much unused oil reserves south of us too.

Yes maybe they should legalize it, then get the heroine addicted people in clinics to supply them and monitor them and ween them off it. I think they got a program like that overseas in some country and they don’t have gang wars or drug cartels pushing drugs across their borders or in the streets.
