Pleasant Greetings,
In reference to the Original post question; Would you say the following verse relates at all?:
Mat 4:4 NASB But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"
SG
That's a pretty neat play on words coming from the Lord, don't you think?
Seeing that the Lord is simultaneously the bread from Heaven and The Word of God.
Shows that the Lord is light years ahead of His Adversary every step of the Way.
Its kind of difficult to post scripture, thinking in your head that it answers all the questions, when in fact legalists view the scripture COMPLETELY different than non-legalists.
THIS is the Scripture that actually answers the Original Post question;
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
This shows that the Lord Jesus gives us rest from our work at the law.
But the way the Original Post is worded is kind of showing a lack of actual understanding of what Christianity is and what it (He) accomplishes.
Of course it is VERY difficult to explain this to someone who only wants to work at the law and doesn't want to come to Christ to receive rest from this sad state.
The Grace guys and non-sabbath guys and Bible Truth guys seem to understand WAY better than the legalists and judaizers. Its like they understand the mockery of Christ that happens with people who think their righteousness comes from their obedience to the law.
But then the legalists think that people who don't try to obey the law in their own understanding and strength are a mockery to God.
So both sides have a zeal for God, but only one side has that zeal according to knowledge.
John 5:39-47
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
These words from the Lord should help a person who leans toward the legalistic/judaistic side. But then the legalist would have to understand scripture and if they understood scripture they wouldn't be legalists to begin with. See Matthew 11:28...
