here is a question for you that none of you sinless perfectionist will answer-
if an amount of sin that a person commits will disqualify them from salvation, how much, how often, how many times does the person get forgiveness if they confess and ask?
That's up to God.
How do you interpret 1 John 1:9?

Our salvation was by grace through faith:
this is the say way that we stay saved - by grace through faith:
the works then are God working through us - Eph. 2:10 - we are his workmanship.
Chester, may God bless you!
What do you think of such verses as ...

“… let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous just as He is righteous.
He who sins is of the devil … Whoever has been born of God does not sin (habitually)
… In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest:
whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God ...” (1 John 3:7-10)
.

It does not say they do not sin. As John would be contradicting himself also. When he said if we (he included himself) claims to be without sin (present tense) we deceive ourselves.

Yet you think you have to earn your salvation by continuing in faith.

Why do you not trust God to keep you. And not yourself?
Continuing in faith is no more "earning your salvation" that it is to say we are "saved by faith" initially!

In other words, being saved by faith is not "earning your salvation"; nor is continuing in faith "earning your salvation"

Any idea that a human can earn his salvation or maintain his salvation is preposterous.

Not quite sure what you are trying to get at?: to me these verses are quite simple

the one who is born again (out of God) does not keep on (practice) sin
the children of the devil keep on (practice) sin

In the whole context of I John I think that, in these verses about the believer and sin, John is trying to show the incompatiblity of a believer and sin. When you are born from above and have the living, power of the Holy Spirit in you, it makes no sense that you should sin!

Then, is there any hope for people like you?
Ignoring and rejecting NT verses which are there to help you!
Deceived, lied to, brainwashed, ignorant, stubborn, prideful, stupid, not a BAC?
This is a multiple choice question ... How many of these apply?
Let me just say...you will not last long here when you quote me with something I did not say and the embellished it to make me look like I was disagreeing with truth.....very dishonest and reported....

I never made the bolded part of the following quote and BC made it look like I said the following.....very very deceptive.....

dcontroversal said:
Would you like to see ALL of the NT verses about "practicing righteousness".

FALSE.......

It happened to me in a conversation with Undergrace the other day - all because I was cutting, and pasting, and replying too quickly without double checking what I was posting.

That is excusable..I am sure we all have done this

But that is not what has been happening from quite a few people.. who continue to slander people by saying they have said things they have never said.

You might be right, but especially if a person hasn't been here long, it is easy to make mistakes without knowing it!

This must be a terrible shock. What I wonder is it you did not say?
I am 100% sure if it was obvious and plain you would have been repeating it continually and acting
the victim.

I wonder what it means when you cannot accept scripture clearly says things one does not agree with?

A classic is "But the person who endures to the end will be saved." Matt 24:13

means you will not die physically even though the context is all about staying faithful in faith.

If one wants to come to forums, you have to be a man and just take the points. It is part of this
environment and following the truth. God bless you.

By the way you can say what you like about me, I will just testify to Jesus to my last breadth because
He is worth it, Amen.

Why did you attribute what YOU said to DC?

And then attack him for what YOU said?

Who stands or falls?

Some seem to believe false teachers matter. It is Gods word that matters and bringing this to the fore.
False teachers and prophets will always be with us, but the elect will just listen to Jesus.

This promise comes stronger back to me everyday, and undermines the hatred and antipathy some have
against those who probably need love and acceptance more than correction and petty point scoring.

27 My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from my hand.
John 10

Amen
