Has anyone told you that joke?
Yes people have claimed they can truly know Jesus and have no compunction how they live,
rather to suggest they do is actually to be trying to be righteous rather than let God do it.
What I find interesting is you seem very sensitive to suggesting this is not an outflow of being
in the Lord?
Someone preached a sermon today, which implied as a child we are in the tree of life, and
God is saying He will catch us if we fall and we can there trust Him.
It is interesting because as a tree climber, I know the risks are real, and I want someone who
knows how to climb to guide me through the safe route. I do not expect them to guarantee
it does not matter how I climb, because that is simply denying the reality of being in a tree,
which is just saying it is all an illusion, and there are no consequences to our actions.
Paul says how we live matters, and has consequences
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity,
or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--
has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on
those who are disobedient.
Eph 5
such a man.....has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
This is not a passive, walk how you like view of Christ, this is there is a path, and be sure how and why
we need to all walk it. It is amazing how easily people dismiss these principles like they are just
legalism spoken by condemners who desire to lead people to hell.
So I wonder where you stand on this, because it appears to me, you are showing resistance to the path
and the way of God?
Now we are talking pure sin here, sexual immorality, desire for wealth, being obscene, coarse and without
regard for others, not over sensitivity in not being rude, or upsetting others by not giving them enough
attention, or failing to put enough effort in to something so it fails in some level.
