What is not wise is to make the bible say something it does not say, The bible was not written in english, and the english language is flawed. There are quite a few places you need to go to origional text to see what is written.

God gave instructions that everyone must follow. (Acts 2:36-40)
When their hearts were first pricked by the Holy Spirit (the hearing of faith) . They asked Peter in respect to their new born again faith. that comes from hearing the voice of God prophecy. What should we do.? The answer from God working in them commanded them to repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, we are baptized in his death . Simply another way of saying believe upon the lord Jesus now that you have the Holy Spirit.
Why would a new creature desire to edify his own self for the first work of believing God as if the faith came from the imaginations of ones own fleshly mind?
If God does not do the first work working in us (to will) to first turn us (to do) as a call to repent..... no man could seek after him?
Two works of turning. God.... First he turn us that have no ears to hear then we turn having been given ears turn towards him and repent .One causes the other. .
Water baptism is used when a new priest enters the ministry. Jesus our high priest was our example.
assuredly, therefore, let all the house of Israel know, that both Lord and Christ did God make him -- this Jesus whom ye did crucify.'

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is the work of God working in us to both to will (give us His faith needed to believe his desire) and do it(strengthen us to finish it) The same kind of work the Father worked with the Son being yoked together strengthening Jesus to finish the desire of His will. The food the disciple knew not of at first Doing the will of the father and finishing it. He promises he will not forget the good works we do offer towards his name that foes work in us.

My point is that if circumcision, or even an obedient husband, were required for salvation, many female Old Testament saints would not have been saved - not all had the benefit of believing husbands (e.g. Esther, Rahab, Naaman's slave girl, the widow of Zarephath etc.) These women were saved though their faith in God, just as Abraham was before his circumcision, just as the thief on the cross was, though he was unable to be baptised, just as Abel, Enoch and Noah were - before the covenant symbols of either circumcision or baptism had been instituted.
Note that your passage makes no mention of water (remember, baptism means immersion only - not immersion in water) - it mentions being "baptised into Christ". Baptism into Christ is as different to water baptism, as circumcision of the heart is to circumcision, as being born again is to being born. The former of the pairs are spiritual, the latter physical symbols of what occurs spiritually.
While you are correct in that a saving faith will lead to obedience (e.g. physical circumcision in the Old Testament, water baptism in the New Testament, amongst many other commandments and prohibitions), none of us can obey God perfectly - we are all sinners. So someone who has not been water baptised is no better, or no worse a sinner than someone who lies, or someone else who lusts, or someone who divorces her husband. God looks at the heart, and separates the sheep from the goats - the believers from the unbelievers, irrespective of the sins of the believers, which are forgiven through Christ.
