Social gospel isnt a gospel of works its just good works are what Jesus did and that involved a whole lot more than telling the gospel to just rich folks who were lukewarm and never knew what it was to be hungry, thirsty or naked.

It seems making social part of some new way of looking at the Gospel of Jesus Christ is possibly...possibly… only confusing something that is already perfect when understood. i COULD BE WRONG, BUT IT is like making the word, trinity, a doctrine. I believe God is the Father, Son and Holy Spisrsit while there is what we call time. So, I have come to understand when bpeople say Trinity in that regard, they are explaining their lack of understanding hwo God will manifest Himself when He wants, in any manner. Yes God is in three persons, but remember what He said to Moses, "I Am that I am." He will be what He will be. It is nto ost important to understand the trinity, it is most important to believe our Father in Jesuis Chrits, by means of hi Holy Spirit.

We shudder when these Emergent types step into the pulpits...
And I shudder to think of the day when they step into the translation committees.
Y'all actually have "translation committees"??????

So, are they all men, and who exactly appoints them?

Never heard of this one........no, seriously...........

Nope read the passage again Jesus said it TWICE rich man, not just man or poor man or black man or white man. RICH man.

Dont just highlight the passages you want to read.
He could have said rich man 500 times, all it takes is ONCE!
Jesus said, with man it is impossible, that's what the liberals don't get, so they busy themselves trying to earn salvation, instead of seeing themselves just as guilty as the next man. Nope, they are no better than the Pharisees saying, "I thank God, I give my money to Planned Parenthood, not like Whitey who don't care for the poor".
Don't you see the hypocrisy?

(if you were writing a new version of the Bible a committee would be in order)

Maybe folks could just stick with the Bible we have and not try to rewrite it.................works for me. Glad I'm not paying attention to these folks. My KJV works just fine.

But thanks for the information.............

Yeah, I guess if the Bible one has doesn't support the views of ones Denominational Ideologies, rewriting the Bible would be a really good idea!

This reminds me of the Charlton Heston Bible………….No, I was never even given the slightest impulse to get one, and YES I am aware he did not actually divide the Reed Sea...….it really was our Father's doing.

If the person here talking about "writing a new Bible" means producing an newly worked translation, that would be almost acceptable. i ALSO LIKE THE kjvv, THE asv, SEVERAL OTHRS IN English

It seems maqny come into the forum thinking they are the sousrce of understanding the Word...….I suppose there are times when all of us seem this way, but the Source is One! All understanding is from Him…………….

It's not called 'rewriting', it's called 'translating', and not knowing ancient Hebrew or Koine Greek, I'm thankful for their work.

Yea kjv works just fine for me.

Faith without works is dead, so showing my faith by my works means, if I happen to be rich, I care or give what I have to those who are poorer or worse off than me. Its very simple.

I dont give to the rich, because they already have enough. What do they need more for?

You need to see things from God's perspective rather than the Christian Socialist perspective. A poor person can be just as greedy and covetous as a rich person. Your view would condemn an Abraham or a Solomon and is not biblical it is communistic.

I am convinced that the negatives we hear about KJV is an excuse for channeling a new vision. ...for new age religion purposes.

No one said anything negative about the KJV. Rehbein was dissing translation committees. Problem is, without them we would all have Greek/Hebrew/Latin Bibles...not even a King James Bible.

No, my view is from the Bible and what Jesus said.
its in the NT. As Ive said James wrote about it and Jesus admonished several rich men quite a number of times, in fact, several times he would say treat this unbelieving person as a tax collector! Tax collectors were known for being greedy and covetous. jesus saw the widow give her mite, which was all she had, and contrasted it with a very rich pharisee, who just chucked in his spare change.

Sorry you cant see it, or you totally ignoring it. jesus own mother praised God at his conception for filling the hungry with good things and sending the rich away empty. Luke 1:53
