It is a type of stew but they tell me it use to have all kinds of meats when it was legal. And then they wink at me. As a Canuk I'm not sure whether to trust them or not. ;)

I would imagine it's more because so many people love deer or elk meat. Much healthier meat, and too much going to waste. The siskiyou county jail used to bring roadkill in to help feed the inmates.

My bio mom is from Browning, US 2 on the east side of the map. My older bro lived in Essex. (the star). The point where Glacier Park meets the Great Bear Wilderness, east of Essex is the continental divide.
Browning is Blackfeet Nation Reservation land. In fact it's the capitol.

In Colorado if you were to hit and kill what would be considered a game animal (deer, pronghorn, elk) on the road you can legally pack it up take it home and butcher it, you just have to file for a "road kill" tag with Dept of Fish and Wildlife. Why let that amount of meat go to waste when it can feed a family?

There's Mule deer, havalina (wild boar), Bears, mountain lions and all sorts of mountains, deserts and critters in Cali. The parts we see on TV are only a small sliver of the 770 x 250 mile state. Mountains, deserts and agricultural valleys by far comprise the majority of land.

I’ve just got this image now of people in big freezer trucks waiting by the side of the
road for a deer to jump out. Then vroom vroom lol
