What do you think it means if something is paid for by the cross? Do you think it means we have a right to ask for it? Or that we should instantly have it? Or something else that can be clearly explained?

Love in Jesus,
Kelby
You can think of it this way, so far, everyone here believed that salvation was paid for by the cross. That, you should be clear about?

Even though its paid for, and it is in God's will that all be saved, it does not mean that everyone will be saved.

I just got done listening to some motivational speeches on YouTube while doing some chores and concluded:
If I believe the words I tell myself, I can change my reality. If somebody else believes the words you tell them, it can change their reality. Words without belief (faith) are powerless and forgettable.

To me, in this thread, its most interesting to hear accusations of twisting/perverting the word of God/heresies when others disagree with your interpretation and beliefs.

What happen to "agree to disagree"? :)
Some things, I can understand where there's a misunderstanding of scripture. Such as, what is required for salvation or even OSAS, but when someone ADDS to a verse, clearly changing the meaning of it, that to me is perverting the word of God or the truth.
For example, if God says He will do or give to you whatever you want, what you will, or even whatsoever you desire, then to add, "so long as it is the will of God" to said verses, is to take the meaning/context of the verse in a completely different direction.
All of a sudden, it is no longer about what you want, desire, believe, or whatever you will, it now rests solely on the will of God, not yours or what is written.
Many who use this tactic, don't know what God wants or what His will is. Which directly results in transitioning one from knowing or having faith, to wondering, wishing, and/or hoping.
It basically says, what is written, is a lie as is, or that it is a deception, at the very least.
It doesn't make the truth of God's word the "whole council of God", but changes the truth into a lie that lines up with their church's doctrine.
The will of God is already written. He said, whatsoever YOU WILL, WANT, OR DESIRE. That is the will of God, for that is what is says, and that is exactly what it means.
What if I were to use the same tactic to verses of salvation or OSAS? Would it change the meaning of those verses?
You know it would.
"Ye are saved by grace, through faith, so long as it is the will of God to save you."
At this point, you don't know if it is the will of God to save you or not, because I added to that verse, changing it from what you do, solely on the will of God. It no longer matters what you want or what you do, it only matters what God's will is.
How can anyone put their confidence, trust, or faith in scripture if you pervert the truth by completely altering, not only what is written, but the meaning as well?

Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

In most cases, it doesn't happen over night, but what you stated, is a truth of God's word.

My example of Isa 53 passage, whether "by your stripes I am healed" is healing from physical diseases or healing from sins, always divides people into 2 camps.

If you insist that it is healing from sins, you will interpret this passage, and all the other passages, such as Psalms 103 and 1 Peter 2:24 that refer to healing, to spiritual healing from sins. This is really personal interpretation and traditions.

Even when I pointed out Matt 8 passage as clearly referring to Jesus doing physical healing, these people will dismiss it. But thanks to this thread, I now learn of a new way some people do that, by believing that Jesus was healing before the cross, but he is not guaranteed to do so after the cross. That is a very interesting belief that people can have.

The point is that, when people choose to hold that view, there is really nothing you can do but agree to disagree. All of us understand the appeal of holding the view that "Jesus might or might not heal, depending on his will". It takes responsibility off our shoulders whenever we cannot see with our eyes that healing has taken place.

Source of that discovery, since I cannot edit the earlier post :)

as I have said more than once in this forum, Jesus died so we could have our sins forgiven. He healed BEFORE the cross so healing was ALWAYS available.

I do not hold that view, and neither does it have any appeal to me.
I stand on the word of God, as it is the foundation on which I have built my house, and I can't be move off.
To me, it's a done deal, settled, and forever established.
What is written or promised, MUST come to pass, IF we hold fast the confession of our faith WITHOUT WAVERING, for HE IS FAITHFUL WHO PROMISED.
If 1+1=2 ever ceased to be, even for a moment, the law of addition would no longer be a truth.
Some laws supersede other laws. Such as the law of lift superseding the law of gravity.
But to put the will of God above the written word of God, in effect, superseding the promises, such as His promise of the law of eternal life in Christ Jesus, is to question the truthfulness of His word.
What it does in effect, is it negates the promises of God. It renders His word to nothing more than fables, causing it's reader only to hope, wish, or wonder, making it impossible to have real faith.
If we can't trust the foundation of our faith, which is the written word of God, the bible, then it is worthless, like all the other religious books written.
But if we can trust the promises for salvation, then we should expect God to do the same for the rest of the promises He made. Even the ones that don't line up with our personal experiences or that of others.

Psa 119:89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psa 119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

Thanks for your replies, Guojing.

I think the emboldened sentence highlights the importance of individual choice and responsibility.... even in (perhaps especially in) things that God has paid for and offers us freely.

Lets see if i can change reality by typing:

Everyone who reads this will agree with me that coffee is better than tea.
I don't care for either but if i have to choose it's tea 100% of the time. Coffee is one of the most vile flavors on the face of the earth, to me.:p

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Why call it the "Law of attraction?"
Why speak words out in thin air, and not keep in mind the MAKER OF ALL?
If it is HIS words you speak, and Him you ask, you can be sure it will come to pass.

Because of
HIM.

HE gets the GLORY.
All glory belongs to God,
forever, and ever.

For from HIM is where the good and perfect gifts come from.

"Law of attraction", is a worldly term, and removes GOD, our FATHER from the picture.

GOD is THE giver of good gifts.

He makes it rain on the just and the unjust.

Every human being that walks this earth, is created by His hand.

He is Lord over all.

The WORLD, and everything that fills it, belongs to HIM.

What does Jesus say about the child asking a Father for a fish?

Luke 11:11
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

The answer is clearly
"NO."

Come to Him as his child, that's what you are, if He indwells you with His Spirit.

You can trust your Father!

Pour your heart out to Him.

Tell Him what you're thinking.

Tell Him what you want.

Tell Him what you need.

Ask Him to give it to you.

He will.

Rejoice, and be glad, praise Him for his goodness.

He is a Father that delights in the wellbeing of HIS children!

-Here are some verses, that tells us to ask our Heavenly Father, and that shows our Heavenly Father will give us what we ask for.

REJOICE, ALL YE CHILDREN OF GOD!

Matthew 18:19
19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

Matthew 21:22
22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Mark 11:24
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

John 14:13
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:7
7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

John 15:16
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

John 16:23
23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

James 1:5
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

James 1:17
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

1 John 3:22
22 and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.

1 John 5:14
14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

All glory belongs to the
LORD

HE IS GOOD.

Have a great day!

Surely you do not think the will of God is in every prayer people pray in selfish desires???

I constantly stand on the verses promising answered prayer.
It would be foolish to enter into petitions to heaven with flippant, destructive requests outside God's will. Then past onto those reckless requests verses from the word.

Hello Absolutely; I have a comment on this, -

James 4:3
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

I think it has to do with the motivations of heart.

If one is not born again, the heart is not renewed, and is not in the will of God.
If one is born again, the heart is new, one is a new creation, new desires, and in the will of God.

Again, you can not attach verses to prayers outside His will.

It must be understood the mind of God is NOT in every impulsive request.

One does gradually become more spiritual.
From the carnal mind, to the spiritual mind.

What matters, is being a new creation...

Lets test this right here on this forum and see what God does?

Ok, Lord, take out every unbelieving, lying spirit that dares type a word on this forum to divide believers. May we all post with one accord and love one another just as you have loved us, from this post on, not just in this thread, but ALL threads on this forum. May we only post the truth and nothing but the truth so that everyone who reads will be edified. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

The mind must ne reprogrammed.
Programmed to Gods word.
Nobody "arrives" in his/her lifetime.
I have been listening to the bible every day for about 3 years. It is a 72 hour dvd.
It is a loop. Never ends. Goes right back to gen 1
We never turn it off.
It has been a game changer.
Verses flow from me and my wife.
1000% difference EVERY YEAR.
His word lodges in every fiber of your being.
The screen shows the current page being read.
So the word enters the eye AND ear gates.
Huge

I thought, what if this was started at salvation 40 years ago?

Oh,another thing.
At first I could not really "take it"
The first year i had to break it up and go through periods of worship to kinda ease the effect Gods word had.
It was like i had to "acclimate my brain" to match my spirit.
