I just noticed the poll has an “other option”.
Urm wondering what this is, Oh I know maybe the
couple just runs out and legs it without paying! Lol
Also known as dine and dash....

I didn't talk that way to her. I did't tell her she was a moocher, nor did I give that reason when I broke up with her. When we first went out, more like friends than dating, she offered to pay her share. After we started dating, she expected me to pay. After a few hints, and she didn't catch the hints, I broke it off with her.

Women need to stop trying to get a free lunch using obsolete social standards from when men worked and women stayed home.

I think it is safe to say that there are expectations that go along with gender. We women like to expect the man to pay for most things prior and after marriage. Where men expect to come home to prepared meals, clean laundry and house with children taken care of by the woman. I'm sure you don't plan to be married and take care of your own meals, laundry and kids after a hard days work at the office.

Then again that is now the expectation of women to work outside the home and still do the stay at home functions... So if you feel like we expect too much of a guy to pay for a date whether we work or not... there is some of the reasoning behind it...

That's great... I can do dinner at a fancy restaurant but when I'm just getting to know someone I do low key at first. I guess it weeds out those who expect more on a first date or two. :)
Oh dear.

I would be stuffed if a date wanted to do that and the given topic was

Leviticus 11:10-11
10 But you must never eat animals from the sea or from rivers that do not have both fins and scales. They are detestable to you. This applies both to little creatures that live in shallow water and to all creatures that live in deep water. 11 They will always be detestable to you. You must never eat their meat or even touch their dead bodies.

Whenever i go out for a nice meal I would start with say mussels, or prawns or scallops.
Then I would have lobster.

I do love things like that, along with crab, winkles, cockles and whelks.

That's cause I'm a shellfish person:cool:

o_O That's what I get for posting this after getting off the phone with my cousin. It isn't Sir Robert Newton. Rather, Sir Isaac Newton.
"I'll have airhead for a moment, for $1000 Alex."

Well at least you didn't go with Fig Newton...

RE: "Myth: there’s always been that myth that ‘men should pay’ as it’s a gentlemen’s approach or tradition."

Why do you call it a myth as if it IS a myth and fact? @Mel85

Edit: because some believe it and some don’t.

Love puns! This verse is the reason why my brother does not eat shellfish. I thought I heard we don't live in Old testament law though :) I just can't pass up a nice steak and lobster dinner!

To each their own... and this is why we look for chemistry and a connection. Some might want to be spoiled, some might just want a Bible study. We learn about each other and think is this a match or not? :)

Having said that, I’ve never been to a fancy restaurant (I’m talking about the high end type where there’s lobsters and oysters that cost $100+) 😂
I have in Maui... it's a blessing to experience at least once in your life :)

I have not been to such a restaurant either. Furthermore, I don't want to go to one. You are paying for atmosphere which I think is kind of uppity. It feeds your ego. I had a young male friend that wanted to treat me to Chateaubriand steak. They bring you this flaming dish of gourmet beef. I turned him down, I said I would probably choke on it.

Prov 23:4-8 "Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words."
atmosphere and the quality of food and service... however I tend to agree it's not a great value.

I so agree with this! I do want to treat my date special, just don't want to be taken advantage of.

Part of this is seeking discernment from God and allowing Him to show or reveal to you such things :)

I don't mind share paying the expenses or paying for my own expense. I don't see the problem.
I'm not into fancy restaurants anyway because I feel like I'm paying more on the ambiance and exclusivity than anything else. I guess i'm into the usual comfort, affordability and good memories kinda date :coffee:

I paid for the last date. And I still want to marry him.
