JUDAS was IN the Disciples for the MONEY and a High Paying, Prestigious Position in the KINGDOM. And when he found out that JESUS was Not going to kick the ROMANS OUT and set up the Kingdom right then and there, he sold HIM to the Chief Priests and elders for 30 pieces of silver. He never was a Born Again Christian.
Why would Jesus put Judas in a prestigious position in the Kingdom?
Was Jesus dumb?

Absolutely.....and plenteous is the number that claims to have faith while fully expecting that works have apart to play in allowing them to enter.....at least 3 to 4 are posting in this thread....they claim...

a. Jesus as Lord <--faith
b. Works will help them make the cut

Same thing that ALL workers for, Cainologists, Pharisees and salvation losers peddle.......
Many want Jesus as Savior....
But not all want Jesus as Lord.

So why is it that you continue to do good works?
I continue to do good works out of love and gratitude for what Jesus has done for me and certainly not out of pride and expectation that the Lord will save me based on the merits of my good works. Believers are to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Very dangerous ground.....lost people do good things every day such as charity, open doors for little old ladies, donate clothes, give to the salvation army etc.....and lest we forget Jesus said the number will be "MANY" that come before his throne claiming....

a. Jesus as LORD <--claimed faith
b. Expecting to enter based upon the many GOOD works they have done in his name.....

The above is what MANY so called Christian religions believe and or preach.........some even in this thread
Very dangerous ground you are on....indeed.

Mathew 7:24-27 JESUS SAID.
24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
26“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27“The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”

2nd Timothy 2:15 and saying that faith plus works to gain, maintain, top off, finish or keep salvation is NOT cutting straight the word of GOD.......
You were asked to please explain what it means to rightly divide the word of truth
by @Matthew55 .

Instead of making your usual comments which amount to nothing (and getting likes for them)
how about actually EXPLAINING what it means.

You teach....
So teach.

Jesus was not dumb. In John 13:18, Jesus said - I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; BUT that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.' On the surface, Judas may have looked like the real deal to the rest of the disciples, yet Jesus knew his heart.

Do you think by Jesus choosing Judas, that must mean Judas was saved? In John 13:10 - Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.” Judas was an unbelieving, unclean devil who betrayed Jesus (John 6:64-71).

Another DESCRIPTIVE passage of Scripture that you confuse with PRESCRIPTIVE passages of Scripture. I already explained this to you. In John 5:28-29, *Notice that ALL who come forth unto the resurrection of life (believers - vs. 24) are described as those who have done good and ALL that come forth unto the resurrection of damnation (unbelievers) are described as those who have done evil.

What did Jesus say in John 3:18? - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already..

Are believers described as "those who have done good" or those who have done evil?"

Are unbelievers described as those "who have done evil" or "those who have done good?"

What will works determine for believers at the judgment? *See 1 Corinthians 3:11-15.

Works-salvation is very dangerous ground! (Matthew 7:21-23) As we read on in Matthew 7:24-27, we find two different foundations with two different results, and not salvation by works, as you would suppose. Each house has a different material upon which its foundation is laid, and each house has a different final outcome. One house is built by a wise man upon a rock and it stands. The other is built by a foolish man upon the sand and it collapses.

Those deceived by their own self-righteousness in Matthew 7:22-23 were "outwardly" doing all the things that the righteous would do yet they did not truly know Christ (had no personal relationship with Christ) which stemmed from not truly believing in Him. The rock the wise man builds upon is true righteousness found in Jesus Christ alone. The sand the foolish man builds upon is self-righteousness.

*Only those who truly believe in Him are wise and hear the words of Jesus and properly act on them. *The foolish man twists the words of Jesus and acts on their own self-righteous works system and calls that acting on the words of Jesus.

Jesus is describing those who did good deeds (believers) and will receive a resurrection of life. Jesus is not saying that these believers were saved based on the merits of their good deeds. What did Jesus say was the basis or means of receiving eternal life in John 3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26? *Not good deeds. What did Paul say in Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9? *Not good deeds either. Jesus goes on to describe those who committed evil deeds (unbelievers) to a resurrection of judgment.

*We see the same descriptive language in Romans 2:6-10. I have already explained this to you numerous time, but the truth continues to go right over your head as you continue to embrace salvation by works. :(

But not all want Jesus as Lord.
HAHAHHAAH nothing you said here has any bearing on what I said......they, like YOU, claim JESUS as LORD and DO MANY wonderful works in his name believing it will get you in......and I can play the thumbs down game if you want me too.....

You don't even know what you are talking about....get your facts straight FRAN.....what separates you and I is the false gospel of faith plus works that you peddle to keep a losable salvation.......You assume I do nothing for Christ because I rightfully believe it is faith alone that saves a man eternally and anything beyond that is the direct result of said faith......

Very well said.

I'd like to emphasize what you said about our works being filthy rags.
First of all the bible says our RIGHTEOUSNESS is as filthy rags...NOT our works.
Isaiah 64:6
For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

it does not say our deeds are as filthy rags...all Jesus taught is that we are to do good deeds.
What it's saying is that our RIGHTEOUS deeds are as filthy rags...
No one is righteous, no not one.
Romans 1:16-17
Romans 3:10

God will pay no attention to our righteous deeds,,,they are done for man and not for God.
However, our deeds will be honest and for God and not righteous when we do them for HIM.d t
Romans 6:13
Mathew 5:20
Ephesians 4:24
Ephesians 6:14
We are indeed required to put on righteousness that is loved by God.

Thanks for a thoughtful post.
And a huge thanks to you for clearing up the filthy rags for me. It has always bothered me. I see it more clearly now!

Try this on for size.

Romans 4:4-5
Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.

The righteousness of Christ without the deeds/works of the law have already been imputed and applied by faith.......we are already JUSTIFIED and that which condemns will never make righteous..........!!
The above quote and the thumbs down which I received for the above quote by FRAN shows how deceitful and false some are on this thread!!!!

THEREFORE we conclude that a man is JUSTIFIED by FAITH without the DEED/WORKS of the LAW

What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith

Even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes

For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ

But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness

and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith

I was going to reply to that idiotic question and then decided why....She constantly rejects the truth of Judas and the fact that there is NOTHING that indicates he was ever saved and then lost it and then in a process of mixing a lemon twist drink or like a street organ player with a dancing monkey in Bombay attempts to use him as an example of one who was saved and then lost........................

The Ten Commandments were engraved in letters on stone.
They were the transitory ministry that brought death and condemnation that has no glory now.
The letter of the law kills. But the Spirit of the new covenant of grace gives life.

2 Corinthians 3:6-11
He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
