Then I'm sorry that your straw man is so apparent to all but yourself. No Calvinist believes faith is a work, but then I'm not sure what you mean since you haven't elaborated. Are you speaking of faith as related to the time of one's conversion?

All Reformed believe faith is a gift, and that belief is the work of God as already explained to you. Note John 6:26; Ephesians 1:19; Romans 12:3; Philippians 1:29.

I must say I believe you've misunderstood our position for over a decade. I'll wait for other Reformed brothers and sisters to respond, if they will, and show us further their stance as well.

Believe it or not i have been trying to withdraw from this discussion because i find discussions with calvinists to be the most unplesant exchanges i have ever been involved in.. They always end up making things personal.. They attack the character of the person that does not believe in T.U.L.I.P doctrines..

When i said inheritance i meant it in the terms of a future.. The son had no chance of a future and would die in the foreign land if he did not come back to his Father and confess his foolishness for leaving.. I stand by that assessment of the parable..

I am not a calvinist, i am just responding to a post you made where you stated the prodigal would have nt recieved their inheritance, when in fact he already did.

An inheritance is an iinheritance, and he recieved it.

Sadly, like many true children, we think our blessings are so great and we can walk away, we find out how wrong we are and this causes us to come back, i speak from the experience because it has happened to me, and i know if i ded apart from the body, god would still have kept his word..

I left the church and lived in the world, i did what the prodigal son did.

Did you disbelieve that Jesus was the Son of God..
Did you come to disbelieve that Jesus was raised from the dead..
Did you come to disbelieve that the the death of Jesus on the cross did not secure atonement for our sins..

As far as salvation is concerned doing what the prodigal son did ( sin ) does not matter because we all sin.. We humans with our human measure of sin grade sins differently between seriously bad to the little sins like little white lies.. But as far as a perfect God is concerned just one little sin is enough to disqualify an unsaved person from receiving eternal life..

Disbelieving God and believing that the atonement of Jesus is of no use is what walking away is..

Well that's what i believe..

Yes indeed. The Parable of the Soils is the proper description.

The sower is not particularly relevant in this parable. He is sowing and sowing good seed. That's it.

No, no true child of God would stop believing the gospel truth, buti did commit the sins which many would say I could not be saved while doing them,

I have never seen it titled anything other then the parable of the sower of the seeds or similar wording.. Never heard it called Parable of the soils..

Where did you learn this title?

Well i would not say that.. If sin disqualifies a believer in the Gospel from salvation then no one is saved..

So for me i do not believe you ever fell away / walked away since you continued in believing the Gospel truth..

I honestly believe there is NO SIN a Christian "couldn't do". Maybe the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. But i dont believe ANYONE can commit that sin today, because Jesus is not in the flesh on earth today.

Im much like the pharisees in one regard, in that on the outside if you look at my life you probably would think im a perfect Christian, you wouldnt catch me drinking, smoking, i try to be polite to people, I stand up when elderly enter the room, etc. etc.
But because of my past life in the mean-streets, my mind is still wicked as hell. I got no gripes about admitting that, but im trying im trying im trying.

I just feel like its A LOT easier to clean the outside (meaning to cease from CERTAIN sins, from PHYSICALLY doing them) than it is to clean the INSIDE (the mind I mean by this)

I would really appreciate if some of the brethren could give me some ADVICE on this

if you have received Christ then you have not blasphemed the HS. You have instead agreed with, recieved his calling and convicting and teaching, and have received the HS.
