If we leave Jesus and turn from him we loose salvation.
No Demi, because our salvation is not based on us - it's based on what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Our involvement begins and ends with either initial acceptance of His salvation or ultimate rejection of it at death. Salvation is a
gift. If it were anything else it would be something we could earn and boast about. If we can't earn it before conversion, we can't earn (keep) it after conversion through our behavior. If so, it would indeed be a
wage and
not a gift. (Romans 4:4)
Being Born Again literally means to be "born from above". It refers to God's
giving of eternal life to the one who
simply believes in Jesus for it. (Titus 3:5). We thus are Justified - which means God has declared righteous all who believe in Jesus. He acquits us and pronounces a verdict of "not guilty".
And that verdict lasts for eternity.
We have been
completely reconciled to God. Our alienation and estrangement that formally existed between us and God is
totally eradicated. (2 Corinthians 5:19). We have been forgiven of
all sins - past, present, and future.
Even the sin of backsliding or future rejection of Christ. God takes it a step further and said He would no longer even remember our sins (Hebrews 10:17). No longer means not now,
nor in the future.
We have been adopted into God's family (Romans 8:14) and can never become "unadopted". Jesus said
no one (that including us) - can snatch us from His hand, or the Father's hand. (John 10:28-29)
In fact, the Bible says nothing
in all creation (which including us - as we are created beings) can separate us from the love of God in Christ. (Romans 8:38-39)
