'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"Question: What Old Testament prophecy tells of Jesus' rule with "a rod of iron" as told in Rev. 19:15?
That would be Micah 5:2 "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."![]()
'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"
Psalms 2:9 NASB
'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"
Psalms 2:9 NASB
Hmmm..........I was just thinking about what a rod of iron would be.....
A rod is used for correction and iron refers to bondage or captivity.
God using “captivity” as correction reminds me of the “time-out” chair my kiddos had to sit in for 5 minutes when they disobeyed me. Lol!
In time-out, all toys and treats are not allowed. It’s really like captivity.
Makes sense to me now why God used captivity for correction.![]()
When David fled Jerusalem due to Absolom's revolution, who neither trimmed his beard nor washed his clothes until David returned?
There is a very strong and convincing argument for the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles (fall feast).Back then they didnt follow the gregorian calendar so he would have been born in the jewish month. It was probably around the same time though. Shepherds keep watch of their sheep all year round, plus in Israel, winters are mild. Its not like they are anywhere near the north pole.
I heard some people say Tishri, which corresponds to september, but others say he was born during the festival of dedication (hannukah) which is in winter. Which would be appropriate given that he is the Light of the World. And we do know he was born near the evening sometime. As shepeherds came soon after, and there being no room at the inn..they must have got there late.

Oh yes....let us not forget Exodus 24 (possibly)....!
Judges ch 2
1Now the angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, “I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you, 2and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? 3So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.” 4As soon as the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the people of Israel, the people lifted up their voices and wept. 5And they called the name of that place Bochim. And they sacrificed there to the Lord.
Exodus 24
9Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up, 10and they saw the God of Israel. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. 11And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank.
