The entire connection with surrender on a battlefield does not correlate well with the salvation concept. You surrendered, you became slave, captive! Ho, ho this is a watered down meaning of pisteou. Same illustration but I would like to make a difference for to understand the concept of pisteiou in salvation. Just hold the forth, Jesus is coming to save you, just believe and see the salvation of the Lord! This emphasize rather a rescue, deliverance from the enemies. This means freedom, safety, and victory!

But it has to be " real " Faith . And the knowledge of what real Faith is , and how to apply it , has been lost for a long time .
Faith is, Find All In The Heart...

Thanks for the reply fredoheaven , but my definition of pisteuo comes from the Strongs and Vines Greek dictionary . The battlefield description was mine though , sorry you didn't like it . I meant it as a comparable , but willing mindset , not forced .

Strongs : pisteuo means not just to believe , but reliance upon , to commit , be committed unto , to commit unto .

Vines : A personal surrender to Him , and a life inspired by such surrender .

I'm not following your train of thought here . Could you elaborate .
Does your faith come from something you read, or is that faith an action, or is that faith something you feel in your heart about it.
?

All of the above now . But at the beginning I had to trust someone who knew something I didn't .

No, I used the same illustration but you didn’t like it. Still though, Vine’s meaning is wrong in this respect. I agree with Strong and pisteou is not only translated as “believe” as used in the Bible. For the record a 16th Ce. Triple Dictionary in English Latin and French by John Baret, gives “believe” to mean “to commit”, and give a thing to keep, to lend and trust. No such idea as Vines says.

John Baret, An Alveary or Triple Dictionary, in English, Latin, and French(1574)
¶ to Beleeue: to committe, and giue a thing to keepe, to lend and trust

@Pisteuo I am with you so far. Keep going.
I have much more to share about the subject of how Faith and faithing are correctly applied . This thread was specifically intended to show how " believing then recieving " are not possible and create a false path . I think I've proven the point and am ready to probably start another thread to make another presentation on the same topic , what true NT pisteuo or faithing is and how it's correctly applied .

If you have any questions about my understandings so far I would gladly like to hear them .
