I think that when It says JESUS was led Into the wilderness to be tempted by satin that that word “tempted” In this case should have been the word “tested”.:)
either one, i still dont believe Satan was inside Jesus.

By the cross the Father's original plan of birthing His own children came (Christ in you) into effect.
Being a Christian or born again means you have Christ in you.

Ephesians 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
:)That would be an excellent answer for a christian but If the person asking that question were a person that Is not reborn yet, what would be a satisfying answer to them?:)
Basically the same thing, they need to understand the plan of God before the fall. It is the power of God unto salvation.
Christians need to understand our gospel started before anything was created.
4000 years before the cross we see that no man could give God what He originally wanted, children He would literally birth Himself by Christ in them the hope of glory.
Bonified offspring of the Father. We tend to preach everything but His original intention.
If I were talking to an unbeliever asking, why did GOD have to die on the cross?I would say that GOD loves righteousness and will do everything righteously and just and fair even though HE Is almighty.
Adam and Eve were the first people on earth and GOD told the man what would happen If he were to disobedient to HIS WORD but HE gave man the ability to make his own choice and man chose to listen to satin and men died spiritually sin entered the world and men would eventually die physically also but GOD being righteous and just made a way for man to come back to HIM without all that sin.

The law (GOD’s perfect standard of righteousness) was added because of adam’s transgression but men were unable to attain GOD’s perfect standard of righteousness because of the weakness of their flesh In his own strength and needed a savior.

GOD sent HIS WORD to earth manifested In the flesh to be the LAMB of GOD.

JESUS paid for our sins with HIS BLOOD and now the Issue Is faith.

For GOD SO loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON that whosoever believes In HIM should not perish but have EVERLASTING LIFE.

Either one?
IMO,tested Is much different than tempted.
maybe it is, but still, neither apply when you are posessed by Satan. thats not a test nor temptation, its someone else acting through you. i dont think Satan was in Jesus acting through Him.

We both know that GOD's WORD Is true so then please don't be lukewarm about saying "either way" because GOD Is not the author of confusion.

The WORD says that GOD cannot be tempted but that scripture says that GOD was led Into the wilderness to be "tempted" of the devil,so then that word must have meant "tested".

Therefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: for our God is a consuming fire” – Hebrews 12:28-29.

The above scripture tells us that godly fear is a work of grace. Nowadays, there are very few teachings about the fear of God. And most of the few teachers that teach about the fear of God, define the fear of God to mean the same thing as the love of God. Others interpret it to mean reverence. But the above opening text clearly differentiates reverence from godly fear with the word “And”.

The fear of God is distinct from the love of God and reverence for God. We can clearly see this distinction by checking through the original words which they were translated from.

The love of God is from the Greek word “Agape”, meaning affection. Reverence for God, as used in our opening text, is from the Greek word “entrepo” meaning, to respect. While the fear of God which we are now discussing, is from the Greek word “eulabeia” meaning caution or dread.

Hence, we are to walk in the fear or dread of God for our own good. The Lord doesn’t want us to fear anyone or anything, but he does want us to fear and tremble before him. Hence, in the new covenant, he says he will put his fear in our hearts, so we shouldn’t depart from him (Jeremiah 32:40).

Then the Lord Jesus tells us again, that we should not fear those that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather we should fear him (God) who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matthew 10:28).

So Why Should We Fear God?

Sometime back, while I shared this message of the fear of God with a young man, he asked me; “can you love and fear your father at the same time?” I replied, “Yes, I loved my parents for whom they were to me, but at the same time, I feared them, because if I messed up, I would be rebuked or punished”

When John talks about perfect love casting away fear, he meant condemnational fear (1John 4:18). And this condemnational (bond) fear, that John says perfect love casts away, is different from the godly fear we are talking about here.

I have felt both of them. Condemnational fear, like John says, has torment. It leads to self and people condemnation. It also leads to struggle with sin. It kills faith. As I struggled with this kind of fear some years ago, like John says, my encounter with the divine love of God by revelation, gave me eternal victory from the clutches of condemantional fear.

While godly fear on the other hand, is a gift of the Spirit of Grace. It confers mastery over sin. Godly fear helps you depart from sin and perfect holiness (2 Corinthians 7:1). Godly fear stabilises love and faith in the heart of a believer.

As a matter of fact, many Christian who confess righteousness with no practical evidence of righteousness in their characters and words, are actually suffering from the missing link of the fear of God. They get carried away with God’s love, goodness and faith. But pay absolutely no attention to the fear of God, divine severity and eternal judgement…

Because they have been wrongly taught or wrongly believe that the fear of God is the same thing as the Love of God or mere reverence or awe.

Now let’s see the scriptural reasons why we need to fear God...

Securing Our Eternal Salvation: “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”—Phil 2:12. From scriptures, we see that a saved soul can be cut off if he doesn’t work out his salvation with caution and trembling (Romans 11:20-22). Judas Iscariot lost his bishopric because he didn’t work out his salvation with fear and trembling.

Mastery in Holiness: From scriptures we see that the fear of God is the master or perfect key for Holy or godly living. Here is exactly what the word of God says concerning this:

“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” 2Corinthians 7:1.

Enjoying Divine Wisdom: The bible tells us that the fear of God gives us access to divine wisdom, which is uncanny wisdom. As a matter of fact, the bible defines wisdom to mean the fear of God. Here is the exact scripture: “And unto man he said, behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding”—Job 28:28. Hence, to be walking in the fear of God, is to be walking in divine wisdom.

To Enjoy Divine Blessings: “Praise you the Lord, blessed is the man that fears the Lord that delights greatly in his commandments. His descendants shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endures forever”—Psalm 112:1-3. So the man or woman that walks in the fear of God enjoys divine blessings amongst which is wealth and riches.

So the list above, are the major biblical reasons we must have to walk in the fear of God. God does not want us to be afraid of anyone or anything. Neither does he want us to have condemnational or tormenting fear. But he does desire and instructs us to fear him for our ultimate and eternal good.

Remain Blessed!

Hmm I think the problem is we're using English wording for something divine. Just like how you don't love your spouse the same as your child, the love of God is different. The description of God is restricted by wording if that makes sense.

It's important to demonstrate the fruit of the spirit. However I'm not sure how much fear is involved here. Are you doing it with love or out of fear? Did your parents punish or discipline? If your child was trying to do the right thing but didn't go above and beyond would you discipline? Idk I think the language throws us off in some ways.

my point has to do with Satan being inside Jesus. nothing at all with tempted or tested.

The WORD says that GOD cannot be tempted but that scripture says that GOD was led Into the wilderness to be "tempted" of the devil,so then that word must have meant "tested".
all the bible versions i see have Jesus being led into the wilderness.

scripture says Jesus was tempted, three different scriptures say this. didnt Jesus and Paul both teach to let things be established by two or three witnesses? so do we change all three so that mans doctrine is not broken?

What would you say If a non believer were to ask you If there were a difference between tempt and test, would your response be”I don’t know”?But I’ll leave It alone.

if a non believer asked me if it was ok to steal money at work, and my response was Christians are not permitted to have relations with their sisters, he would probably think i have a mental condition being as one has nothing to do with the other.

Great comment, that is an observation that is not recognized in Christianity today.
The main reason I believe is that today's translators and even some Scholars do not know how to handle that verse, as well as others. So they change it to what they think the original really means. Strange dilemma they have created for themselves and their readers.
N...,

More often they modify new edition wordage to support a new age religion interpretation of the Bible. This has been the experience since the 1960's....a era of moral and social decline that hasn't stopped ....yet.

I agree so much with this, those who seek will find, knock and the door will be opened. It is God that gives the growth, not the seed nor water, nor planter, or even the one who waters, no not even the translation.

That said I know what preston39 is talking about and there is information and facts about this people should definitely know, no doubt. My point here is that when we truly seek God He tells us we will find, and we must go to Him willing to turn from "my way" and die to self, to put the flesh to death and follow Him. When you get there (when He draws you here, but in our flesh, from our limited perspectives, when we get there), when He grants us repentance and the old man has been put to death, and you are reborn in the spirit, not only has your spirit been made alive, but this means you are also spiritually reconciled to the Creator in His Spirit, and are now indwelt by Him, now made whole as we were created to be, we no longer deceived into thinking that we could only be made whole by the things of the flesh, no longer completely blind to the things of the Spirit, and able to truly fulfill your purpose here. Oh praise our almighty Savior Jesus, the good King and ruler of all forever. A-to-da-men!
