Except paul said to earnestly desire the gifts of the Spirit...But you say it is seeking after signs? Have you replaced Paul?

Its an evil generation, natural unconverted man that seeks after a sign as some sort of unseen evidence . Who hopes for that which they think they already have (a incorruptible body )?
The key is signs follow those who do beleive prophecy not leed as something to seek after before they will beleive .
The Christian will be under the persuasion of the father of lies brining his false prophecy as the poison of serpents, but not follow after them. Christ called them a brood of vipers (false apostles)

Casting out denomns is a work of the gospel it comes from those God works in so they can speak with a new tongue ...the tongue of the holy Spirit .again follow after .Not leed
It makes no sense to me that he would help corinhtians with orderly gathering and not mention that they weren't to speak in tongues unless a jewish unbeliever was present.
Not a single person in here has said anything about seeking the gifts before you will believe. It was to believers that paul said to desire the best gifts. When he said it, was he encouraging them to evilly seek after signs?

In the law [the Old Testament] it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people [Israel] ; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not [unbelieving Jews]... (1 Cor 14:21,22).
As we know from Scripture, the gift of tongues was given to the apostles and disciples (all Jews) on the the Day of Pentecost, and all those who heard them speak supernaturally were also Jews gathered from around the Roman Empire in Jerusalem on that day. In Corinth there were both Jews and Gentiles (and both believers and unbelievers) gathering together at their church meetings.
Tongues were never meant to be a so-called "prayer language", since the Lord taught us to pray in our own languages. The Lord Himself prayed in His own earthly language -- Aramaic.
Paul was multi-lingual. Paul was hated by his Jewish brethren because he was bringing Gentiles into the kingdom of God.
Still scripture states that tongues are a sign and Jews seek a sign. Hard to find that application in the modern Gentile church.

So no, Paul did not say to not speak in tongues unless unbelieving jews were there. But I'll have to step away from this particular leg of the conversation because I think it's so silly it's not anything I care to waste valuable time on. Sorry.

Technically, I wouldn't say it is signifying full salvation, but I would indeed say it is a sign that the person just received the Holy Ghost (part of salvation).

The interesting thing about your post is that I can't tell by it whether you do have "speaking in tongues" or don't have it. Because I do have it and would agree with what you wrote. Indeed, if a person comes in to a group that is speaking in tongues, even a prayer meeting, and that person is an unbeliever or unlearned, they're going to understand none of it and will basically think they're all crazy. That's scriptural.

No Kelby, I've never spoken in a tongue other than my native language. Thing is, we're encouraged to seek after the greatest that God has to give us. This is where my focus remains.

No, all who speak in tongues are not babies or immature.
Those who walk with lesser amounts of humility are immature. Those who would insist that they know for a fact that someone has not received the Spirit, or who would say they know for a fact that those who have never manifested tongues have never prayed or communed in the spirit - those are the immature.
With more humility comes a bewilderment that sees it thought it knew all about God, while all the time it knew very little.

They could tell when someone hadn't received the Holy Ghost....and they could tell when they had received it. That's not arrogance, or immaturity.

That is not Biblical that is the modern gospel of man. Here's what Jesus said John 3:3 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Unless one is born of the Spirit they will not understand the princables of the kingdom of God, Jesus also said the the Spirit gives life and the flesh is of no help and the Father must grant that birth.
John 6:63, 65 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.....65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”
Peter says the the Father caused us to be born again I Peter 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"
James say it not our will it is by His will. James 1:18 "Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures."
Paul tells us that we cannot submit to God as sinners. Romans 8:7-8 "For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God."
So your modern man glorifying gospel is not Biblical, if the Father does not grant that you come to Jesus you never will, you have to be born of the Spirit to even see the kingdom of God. So you would not know that calling on the Lord will save you or do you even care, it is only by God's gracious gift of salvation that you would know to call on Him to be saved, because He brought you forth by His will, not yours.
Huh uh, nonsense. Why did Paul ask some men: did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? If he could be sure just by looking at them, he wouldn't have asked that. And no, I was NOT talking about the apostles by what I said prpreviously because none of them would have DARED to preach a gospel saying that without the gift of tongues you could not call Jesus Lord or that the only way to pray in spirit was in tongues. They would have spoke AGAINST that false gospel.
