Cool so give it all to the poor. Point is people love to say other people love money and completely have the blinders on to their own choices. Not "loving money" is just under what they are willing to give. Me asking for money isn't a serious spiritual mistake at all. I could use it for a lot of good. I have no problem having a lot of money because I can help a lot of people with it.
And yet Jesus says the poor woman who gave only pennies gives more...

Jesus made her the example. She gave everything and was worldly poor. If the rich man followed this example, he would be poor too.

When compaired to acts 5; 1-11 I don't beleive any of us measure up. Who among us can? Not me, but the love and care for our fellow man should be a prioritory at least. We ask God to forgive us our sins, Is greed and selfishness not a sin. Did Jesus have a yaught or a guilded chariot or palace? Making money is not more important than serving God. Those that love money more than God ARE Idolitors. and there is a deception that God wants us to have lots money so we can give 10%. Dung I say! bob

There is truth that some seem to ignore when discussing money and giving.
We have a responsibility to provide for our families. Yes, we are to trust God, but we are also to use what God provides wisely. Don't think God intended for us to give all to the poor and become poor and in need of the help of others by doing so.

I used to go round and around with Willie T about his love of money. He loved to brag about how big his stock portfolio had grown! Ol' Trump even made him an additional 30k! Woo hoo! And I confronted him on that. Now, if he had instead talked about securing his retirement, or being able to provide better for his family, then I would have let the 30k slide. But since having that cash was more important in his mind than what it could provide...

He tried to tell me it was good for rich people to be around since they can give more to charity. But when I asked him how that melds with Jesus' teaching on the old woman and her pennies - well, I haven't seen him here since.

How do you feel about those who earn a living by helping those rich folks get richer?
There seem to be more and more of these investment advisors today.

I ask God to forgive me for I think of them. Let me elaborate. When I bring up acts 5, 1-11 it's about socialsim, non greed not poltics. St. Peter was not a nazi or commie. People have perverted and misused, accused the word so much it has lost all of It's meaning. It makes me angry. Some people I think don't see the obligation of being a christian takes precidence over nationality.

let me ask this, is being a christian a political party, or is it a comitment to put God first over nation?

Again, it goes back to what's in your heart. It wasn't that long ago that advisers were caught selling investments that made THEM richer, instead of those which made their clients richer. Too, are you saving to secure your family or are you just hording cash?

Now if you want to know my opinion of the politicians who keep taking from the poor and the middle to further enrich the fat cats, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......

I guess one needs to define hording cash.
What about the person who buys a $500,000 house when a $100,000 would house his family.
What about the $900 cell phone?
Shall I go on?
Is that hording?
The way things keep going up and up, how much is enough.
Personally, I believe many people waste most of what God provides.
And don't get me started on politicians. Never meet one that should not be hung in the town square.

Actually, if Jesus set the standard of what we are supposed to 'have', and He did, then we would have nothing.

But I think the Bible allows us to be comfortable. Yes too much house, lining up for the latest iphone - that's all part of it. Those are things of this world.

It all boils down to this - every dollar you bank here, whether it be in cash, houses, cell phones, etc ... is a dollar you won't have stored up waiting for you in heaven. So instead of the $900 iphone, my $200 S6 does everything I need it to, and frees up $700 to bank on the other side (via donations to shelters, food banks, legitimate charitable causes).

But that's just me, and we all know I'm crazy ;)

We can go round and round theorizing what is righteous concerning wealth and the love of money …
but as disciples of our master let us learn from him directly
each person must work this out for themselves …

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou will be perfect, go and sell that thou have, and give to the poor, and thou shall have treasure
in heaven:
and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the
kingdom of God.

25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
Matthew 19:

28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife,
or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
Luke 18:
verse 30: (ERV) will get much more than they left. They will get many times more in this life. And in the world that is coming
they will get the reward of eternal life.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust do corrupt, and where thieves break through
and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust do corrupt, and where thieves do not break
through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise
the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:

All Scripture is to be understood in context.
We are tought that we are to provide for our families.
We are taught that one who will not work shall not eat.
We are taught that the poor will always be with us.
We are taught that God will provide, not to worry.
We are taught to share what God provides with those with out.
The key is to balance all He has taught us.
Care for our families so others do not have to. Even when we are no longer here to provide.
There is a big difference in providing what is needed and wasting money on foolish luxuries.

Pretty much.
I do not own a house. I do not own a block of land. Nor a speed boat or a caravan.
I have sufficient for modest living and an open heart (and wallet) to those who need a hand.
And I roll up my sleeves and help out when required.
Prayer for others.

Read the scriptures for yourself and apply them to your life - don't worry about what other people are doing
that is what the scriptures are for - your own personal walk with Jesus.

I do own a house and the land it sets on. Notice I said I own it. Paid for. No mortgage. No payments.

Because I do not pay some else rent, ( you probably do pay rent) I have more to share than you do.
