7I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.d

Then you better believe that believing is enough. The bible seems to expect more. But you have just about eliminated good works from the equation. So hope believing is enough.
Depends on what you believe.....do you believe the true Gospel message that Jesus died for your sins upon the cross, was buried, rose again on the third day and ascended into heaven, that He sends His holy spirit so that we may be born again children of God and learn to walk in His ways....

If you believe that Gospel, then it's enough for God says that even we who are evil would not give a snake to a child who asks for fish.

.God who is so much more loving and good will give us what we ask if we truly desire only Him and His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

However if you believe the gospel is just a get out of he'll free card or that you have to do a lot of works to prove how good you are, because Jesus was just a good example to follow....then no, it's not enough for that is a false gospel and faith in a false gospel will never be enough.

If you don't have the Holy spirit guiding you and leading you and comforting you, then you are NOT a child of GOD...no matter what your outward works may proclaim.

I know Mailmandan......and his belief....you do not believe the same thing he does....the fact that you try and include his belief with yours is tragic and not very honest.........he fully believes one is entirely saved eternally by faith alone......and if you took time to read the thread you will find that NOT one person who believes saved by grace through faith eternally has said that a believer will not bear fruit.
Then why did he use the verbiage: true faith is accompanied by good works?

HAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA wow man.......that view totally contradicts the fact that the bible was complete by 95 A.D. or so and the letters of the New Testament were being passed around and read in the churches WELL before any creed written by men....

Go back to Sunday School and start with the milk........
You will have to give me your source for complete bible at 95AD? Thank you.

Your absolutely right, he did not say that whoever is NOT baptized will be condemned, but he did say: that whosoever believeth and is baptized will be saved. I believe that, apparently you do not. Too bad because those are the words directly from Jesus's mouth, as recorded in your bible.
If he who believes will be saved (John 3:15,16,18; 5:24: 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26) — “words directly from Jesus’ mouth,” not to mention (Acts 10:43; 13:39; 16:31; Romans 1:16; 3:22-28; 4:5 etc..). I believe that. Do you? Then he who believes and is baptized will be saved as well. I believe Jesus.

MANY call Head Knowledge about who Jesus is, admitting it is all true; to be the same as born again. EVEN THE DEMONS in the demoniacs at Gadera, believed that much. AND I am not sure about you.

FAKE BELIEVERS:

Matthew 7:21-23 (HCSB)
[SUP]21 [/SUP] “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but ⌊only⌋ the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.
[SUP]22 [/SUP] On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’
[SUP]23 [/SUP] Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you!
Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!

FAKE BELIEVING VIRGINS:

Matthew 25:7-13 (HCSB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] “Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.
[SUP]8 [/SUP] But the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’
[SUP]9 [/SUP] “The sensible ones answered, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Go instead to those who sell, and buy oil for yourselves.’
[SUP]10 [/SUP] “When they had gone to buy some, the groom arrived. Then those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.
[SUP]11 [/SUP] “Later the rest of the virgins also came and said, ‘Master, master, open up for us!’
[SUP]12 [/SUP] “But he replied, ‘I assure you: I do not know you!’
[SUP]13 [/SUP] “Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour.

FAKE BELIEVERS FOOLING ONLY THEM SELVES:
1 John 2:4 (HCSB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]The one who says, “I have come to KNOW Him,” yet doesn't keep His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

FAKE BELIEVERS who fell away:

1 John 2:19 (HCSB)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. However, they went out so that it might be made clear that none of them belongs to us. {NONE of them were BORN AGAIN.}

FAKE DISCIPLES OR FOLLOWER:

John 6:66 (YLT)
[SUP]66 [/SUP] From this time many of his disciples went away backward, and were no more walking with him,

All of them were Psuedo Christians.

NONE OF THEM, were actually BORN AGAIN. AND only those who are BORN AGAIN, are truly SAVED ETERNALLY.

John 10:24-30 (HCSB)
[SUP]24 [/SUP] Then the Jews surrounded Him and asked, “How long are You going to keep us in suspense? If You are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”
[SUP]25 [/SUP] “I did tell you and you don’t believe,” Jesus answered them. “The works that I do in My Father’s name testify about Me.
[SUP]26 [/SUP] But you don’t believe because you are not My sheep.
[SUP]27 [/SUP] My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
[SUP]28 [/SUP] I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand.
[SUP]29 [/SUP] My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
[SUP]30 [/SUP] The Father and I are one.”
Your choice of 1 John is a good one for good works.
1 John 2:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Aren't you the one that said: God is not going to keep anybody from eternal life just because they don't forgive every person that trespasses against them. In fact isn't the phrase "keep my commandments" kind of a throw-away phrase to you? If one is saved immediately and is guaranteed eternal life from the time they are baptized of the HS, then keeping the commandments of Jesus just kinda gets in the way, right? Kinda not necessary to keep the commandments and down right out of vogue for those living under grace, right?

So are there many today that are fooling themselves?

Dcon....
.You highlighted the wrong part...

*** if people read the whole of a message, there would be less arguing, but most folks only read until they find something they disagree with...

No, actually I highlighted the part i wanted to highlight because he flat misrepresented the truth when he tried to say or imply above that he and Mailmandan believe the same thing

i also claim no denomination
:D

just a Jesus loving child of God who reads his bible

What I like BEST about going to a Non-Denominational evangelical Church, is NO ONE CAN PIN A LABEL ON ME, except Christian. NOT EVEN Calvinist, will stick, because I only believe in 3 of the 5 points of Calvinist.

Funny truth.....the church AT........was the expression in the bible....there were no "labels" as there are today....and with labels also comes the proverbial farce...if you are not such and such your not saved etc...I was raised in one of those groups that legalistically said that if your not this or your that etc.....

Scripturally, name means exactly nothing for the most part in this day and age other than the possibility of being able to get a general idea of what beliefs they may hold to.....

at the end of the day....what do they teach and believe<---This identifies and qualifies all religious groups and determines validity and or correctness before God..........there are core doctrines.....if these core doctrines do not meet the standard of truth in the bible = false!

NO I AM NOT.

You do not Know the GREEK TENSES, Do You? The KEEP is in the GREEK TENSE, called the Present Tense. It is NOT LIKE OUR Present Tense. It implies, an ON GOING LIFE STYLE of striving to KEEP, out of LOVE FOR HIM, after you have been BORN AGAIN.

You DO NOT EVER become un-born again. WHY, is YOU WILL NOT EVER GO BACK TO BEING a creature, without an ETERNAL LIVING HUMAN SPIRIT IN YOU. You only prove you WERE only kidding yourself, when you thought you were BORN AGAIN.

I do not think you have ever been Born Again, or you would understand me.

1 John 3:14-19 (HCSB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death
[SUP]15 [/SUP] Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his ⌊need⌋—how can God’s love {Rom. 5:5} reside in him?
[SUP]18 [/SUP] Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.
[SUP]19 [/SUP] This is how we will know we belong to the truth and will convince our conscience in His presence,

IT IS PART OF THE LOVE GOD HAD THE HOLY SPIRIT PUT INTO OUR HEART, WHEN WE WERE SAVED AND BORN AGAIN.

You do not Understand do you? You think it is all Foolishness, don't you?

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

John 10:26-28 (HCSB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] But you don’t believe because you are not My sheep.
[SUP]27 [/SUP] My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
[SUP]28 [/SUP] I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever!
No one will snatch them out of My hand.

2 Corinthians 10:17-18 (HCSB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] So the one who boasts must boast in the Lord.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] For it is not the one commending himself who is approved, but the one the Lord commends.

All living creatures of flesh are born with a spirit.

And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying, Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, (See Num 27:15-16)

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: Jer 32:27

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

So what does the Kingdom of God look like? (See John 3:3)

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3

(Not trying to say you will not receive the promise, just suggesting there might be more to the story....)

The human spirit is DEAD to GOD, because of the inherited SIN NATURE from Adam. IT HAS TO BE BORN or Birthed by the HOLY SPIRIT, OR IT REMAINS DEAD.

1 John 3:14 (HCSB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death. {The is a reference to a Dead Human Spirit.}

Ephesians 2:4-5 (CSBBible)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us,
[SUP]5 [/SUP] made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!
