…30But when this son of yours returns from squandering your wealth with prostitutes, you kill the fatted calf for him!’ 31‘Son, you are always with me, the father said, ‘and all that is mine is yours. 32But it was fitting to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”…

There was a song out years ago called "God Ran". It points to the fact that, like in this passage, when we repent, God RUNS to us to welcome us into His family.
I have been a pretty poor Christian all of my life, but this story reminds me that God ALWAYS runs to meet me when I turn to Him no matter how I have been living. That is true love that I can trust.
Obviously Jesus told it to illustrate the kind of relationship God desperately desires to have with us. (So much so, that He sent His only Son into this sick evil world to die in our place so we could spend eternity with Him.) He loves us far more than we can imagine as limited willful silly humans.
I praise and worship God forever for loving me so much He sent His one and only human born Son to die on the cross in my place, and that three days later, God raised Him from the dead.
Thank you glorious heavenly Father.
