I came across this when I was two(in Christian years), and was amazed at how God has an answer for everything.
 
the Devil quoted "For it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest any time thou dash thy foot against a stone"

I guess I was half right again but it was Elisha instead of Ezekiel,I tend to get the 3 mixed up,Elijah,Elisha,and Ezekiel.

Okay, so tell me if I'm understanding the question right.......

The devil quoted scripture when the he (devil) was tempting Jesus.

Q #1 - What two verses did the devil quote to tempt Jesus?

Answer ?

Q #2 - And, what is really important in the next verse after what the devil quotes?

Answer - "It is written!"

My apologies; I misread your earlier question.
As to the next verse, the devil is called, or compared to, both a "lion" and a "serpent". How ironic... ;)
