This goes beyond the action of sin, but the motive of why the sin as committed. What was the accuser able to tempt us with? Whatever it is , its the god that we served. The idol of our heart. After the tempter causes the failure, then he accuses. Condemnation. Then we make the choice. Deliverance or bondage. If we choose the latter, we are captive until repentance.

And this is what I will always consider.

What is going on with a believer that causes them to be trapped in sin?
People are quick to write them off.
"Look at him, obviously not a believer"

Yet do not give two thoughts as to why they do what they do.

You mention the idol of our heart.

That is not limited to what we do, in a peverse sense it's also the reasons behind what we do.

Hate, anger, hurt, pain and so on.

The saying goes "Better the devil you know than the one you don't"

The father of lies works, focuses on the reasons why people do things, then blames God. "If God really loves you why did he allow this to happen to you" this can then lead to a false concept of God.

Then we fall. Then satan says "If you really loved God then you would not never have done that"

A vicious circle.

To me it's not just repenting of what we do wrong, it's repenting of the cause of the effect.

A totally wrong concept of God. That also holds us in bondage.
Break that, be delivered from that, then it gets easier to walk in the freedom that we have in Jesus.

Abiding in Christ and His word

I did not see before, but one interpretation of having Gods word abiding in our hearts, could be
seen as just another name for Jesus.

But Jesus is obviously saying dwell on His words.
Jesus's words are eternal. The word eternal is without end. They have eternal significance.
The foolishness of false teachers ideas, is to say Jesus was only talking to one group, and these
words do not speak to our hearts or effect our lives.

This makes them rebellious liars against God. It is this blunt and this direct.
Gods commands cannot be shaken off, only fulfilled. It is not easy to get this right.

Doing things in Jesus's name means doing things as if they are Jesus doing it, so in His will,
with His heart and desire. Now if you do not know Jesus's heart, or will, then this says you
do not know Him yet.

Love and purity are not difficult ideas, only it starts to exclude worldly passions and brings an
emphasis on the needs of others. But it does hurt, until you see it is actually life, real life, eternal
life. If you can see this the Kingdom has come to your heart, but many do not see this, which is
obvious by their words.

There is no other way, than the purity of Jesus, because He is the way, the truth and the life.

Only Holy Spirit has the right to judge a heart. It's His searchlight not ours.

We do have a right to defend the gospel.

Fairly confident most if not all in this thread can read all he has written....keep defending your Catholic dogma....works do not save, keep saved, help one maintain salvation....FAITH is what saves....you should try the one mediator between God and men....he saves eternally.....by FAITH
