But it is a matter of perception, you want it to be the one Akiene drew rather than this. And yes she is very gifted.

Based on where Jesus was from, and without being a picture of what you would want him to look like, this is probably more accurate.

And what if he did look like this, would that put you off? Why are people so drawn to face value?
She went to heaven as a child. She saw Him. Many do but there are those who say it's not possible. Read her story. It's on the web.

I thought He would be different by the way. More like my husband. Lol

Hey Everyone , Im new here , hope you guys dont mind me posting on this thread
I am a fairly new believer , and well , I just cant believe what Im reading in some of these posts !!!
I know that my salvation is by placing my complete trust in Jesus's sacrifice for me , believing the Gospel 1st Corinthians 1-4
If it were up to me in any way I would be lost !!!
I see so many posts promoting a " false Gospel "
By adding anything to the finished work of Jesus is perverting the Gospel !! Do people who promote this theology know anything about rightly dividing God's Word ? Do they even look at who is being spoken to ? Do they know that Paul's epistles are the message to the Gentiles ?
I saw a few pages back , a post about people who may look at this thread and not say anything , I was one of those people for a few weeks
I just want to say , that those of you who are standing for the truth , that salvation is by Faith Alone , please keep defending the truth !!
You never know who may be reading this thread , and babes in Christ can be easily led astray with wrong teaching

I looked up 7 commentaries. 1 of them was a short commentary, and to be honest, I could not figure out what the commentator was saying. 1 spoke of the (sin of apostasy) as being continuing in animal sacrifice at the temple. Ie, after believing in jesus, they continued to focus on animal sacrrifice, I could havce used that, but the commentator did not say one way or the other if he believed the guy was still saved, or lost salvation. 2 agreed with his view that apostasy means loss of salvation. Then I had these 4, which said apostasy does NOT mean a loss of salvation. But will result in chastening (SEVERE) one even I used David as an excuse, He committed 2 grave sins (murder and adultry) and God chastened him with the death of his child. And although he was forgiven forever, He suffered greatly from that point forward (as he said some things are WORSE that death)

either way,. The fact he continues just goes to prove he is not here for any honest discussion at all. Only to attack those he disagrees with..
The story of David is a blessing to us. He sinned and paid a heavy price for it. He repented and continued to pay the price. Due to his repentance God said he was a man after God's own heart. Therefore if we sin and repent to God we have the same forgiveness.

It depends on the perception of heaven, where it is, and where in time it is. But I won't go into my thoughts on that. Although the Bible clearly says that the kingdom of heaven is within. It is right there. :)

It's not that. Everybody knows works do not purchase salvation.

What's going on is some of us agree with James that a dead faith (faith that doesn't have works) can not save.

"What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?"-James 2:14

The faith that has no works did not save you and it will not save you when Jesus comes back. Countless Christians look right past this verse and aren't able to see it because they insist you can not lose your salvation so it doesn't matter if you have works or not and that you will still be saved when Jesus comes back no matter what. James is clearly not teaching a 'no matter what' doctrine here. It does matter. The person who has 'faith' but has no change of life is not saved. End of story.

Works DO matter. Just not in the one way that the church has been trained to think works matter (in a works gospel).
Works show if you are really born again or not.
I'll simply retort this as well as everyone else that believes faith alone does not save or that you must have works to be saved,or some of the other idle banter with a simple yet meaningful scripture that I found and can clarify...
Ephesians Chp.2 verse 10(KJV)[concerning Gentiles/Christians]
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
In this context the word "unto" means-By or done,so establishing that once saved Jesus did the "good works" "for us" and "walk in them" referring to that we "share his works" as well as "observe them" ourselves we could never do such works "by ourselves",it is only through Jesus that we "have" anything let alone "works whatsoever".
Sure we do things like "go to church or,love our neighbor and seek to help others, but aren't these things that Jesus did and we simply are doing all we can by letting him do so through us"?
Yes.

Well "ordinarily" here at Christian Chat we would hope for you to post about yourself in the "Introductions" forum first, but well if you feel you can "stand on your feet" so to speak in this thread, then I have no quams,it gets heated in here sometimes and some get "too personal" just tread carefully and if possibly you get upset or need a break we have some fun forums like singles forum and miscellaneous forum, where you can post silly stuff or mingle a little.
Speaking on God's word can be "exhausting" believe you me,that being said....
Welcome here you can discuss with bible smart people and possibly make new friends, hope you like it here!

Nobody here is saying works earn salvation. Yes, there is some weird stuff being pushed here some times, but no one is saying works earn salvation.

The church always hears 'works' as you trying to earn your own salvation. Faith that is alive, not dead, is the faith that saves. That's not a works gospel. Even when you explain it to people how only the faith that works saves they still continue to hear 'works' as one trying to earn their own salvation. We are in the end times.

The delusion is strong. Christ will return soon. Only a few enter in through the narrow way to life. Everyone who hears the words of Jesus and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. When the storm came it fell, and great was it's fall.

Yes.
And so, do we have to have works to be saved when Jesus comes back or not? Yes, or no?

I find this truly shocking, I do.
Before coming to CC I did not know people believed they could actually make their hearts pure.:(
What movement, denomination is this?
Walking in the light, a choice for the believer.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
1 John 1:7

Having faith and hope in Christ

But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
1 John 3:2-3

Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Corinthians 7:1

Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:8-10

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Drawing near to God
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:22

We have a choice, and we are part of the process.

Another perspective is do the impure inherit the Kingdom of God? No

For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Ephesians 5:5

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
1 Thessalonians 4:7

Some claim no one preaches the impure are ok, except when you raise the subject
of a Holy life, living in purity, it is mocked as impossible. The conclusion is obvious,
everyone is impure, except Jesus declares otherwise.

Yes because people have free will. They are not controlled by God. So if they reject God, how does God help them, when he can't? His glory can not be reached by them.
God will harden the persistent Christ rejector in the choice they make if he so chooses to do that. The Bible is clear about that. He will remove your choice to be saved or not.

Death bed confessions are only heard by Christ if he has not already turned them over to their lifelong choice to reject him. Some will argue that they won't want to come to him after he does that. The Bible suggests otherwise...

See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. 17Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done."-Hebrews 12:16-17

“Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25“Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.’ 26“Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets’; 27and He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.’-Luke 13:24-27

I know you can only hear 'being saved' that one way....the moment of salvation when you first believe. Jesus and the apostles speak at length about being saved when he comes back. Peter refers to it when he says, "a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time"-2 Peter 1:5.

You will be saved when he comes back IF you get saved ahead of time in this life. And we know if we are saved now and ready to meet him when he comes back by if we are growing up into the traits of the Spirit....kindness, patience, calmness, peace, forgiveness, love, etc. The changed/ changing life is how you know you are saved now and will be saved in the end.

Works do matter. You have to have works to be saved when he comes back or you do not have the salvation by faith apart from works that you think you do. Dead faith can not save. James said so.
