21st Century King James Version John 8:51-56 Verily, verily I say unto you, if a man keep My saying, he shall never see death.” Then said the Jews unto Him, “Now we know that thou hast a devil! Abraham is dead and the prophets; and thou sayest, ‘If a man keep my saying he shall never taste of death.’ Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Whom makest thou thyself?” Jesus answered, “If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father that honoreth Me, of whom ye say that He is your God. Yet ye have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I should say, ‘I know Him not,’ I shall be a liar like unto you. But I know Him and keep His saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day; and He saw it and was glad.”
Matthew 16:24-28 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
