Tequila was 15, would have been 16 last December. She had a thyroid problem, could'nt keep food down for more than a day, had chronic diarrhea and gas.. She had a steroid shot a couple weeks before I had her put to sleep, to make her poop solid again, and it only returned back to normal a day or so before she went.. Otherwise, she looked fine, wouldn't know anything was wrong with her unless you saw her throw up.
Sukie was my parents' cat. She had the same disease, but lost soooo much weight, literal skin and bones. She suffered much longer than she had to. My parents finally made an appt. to have her put to sleep, but she died on her own at midnight the night before.
Back to Tequila. I knew she would need medicine and steroid shots to keep her poop normal and stop her throwing up. Problem with that was, she couldn't tolerate canned food, which is what the medicine had to go into, and I was NOT going to traumatize her by shoving pills in her mouth. She would've needed a steroid shot every month, and with me having just come off having sciatica, and steroid shots in MY back, I knew that I wasn't going to subject her to the same thing..
So don't waste money on meds and surgery. Kitty is old so don't traumatize her by putting her through that. Just have her put to sleep so she can go "home" again. I wish I could hug you because I do truly know how bad this hurts.
