Don't take any of your writers as being ''rude'' to your religion !!!!

You must be VERY serious about your soul's salvation because time is short and eternity is LONG

I have studied the SDA teachings and sometimes I think that members do NOT really know the doctrines of their church!!

Sadly mrs White's doctrines are blasphemous. She does not teach the ''finished' work of JESUS
THAT is very serious.

We are not under the law that God gave to His chosen people Israel. They failed Him but we are no better then israel and If God gave up HIS everlasting covenant with them He would have to give up on us NOW. God is not surprised at the failure of man

JESUS paid our complete sin debt. You make it VOID by adding something to it to make is complete.

The investigative judgment is an awful doctrine. We are not under judgment by the finished work of Christ

No church has all the answers BUT IF we are not ''saved'' then we are headed for a lost eternity

The Bible says "THERE is NO other name under heaven given amongst men, whereby we must be saved''

Dont worry about what man says "Let God be true" We will answer to HIM and HIS salvation HE made as a gift to lost guilty man

Psssst, Meagain, (who is not the meagain I was hoping you were lol), you picked a 6 year old post and are responding to someone who was banned from this site a while again to respond to.

Not complaining. Just thought you'd like to notice the age of a post before responding, and check to see if the words "banned" are under the name of the person you're responding to.

(One thing for sure -- lots of people were banned who originally responded to this post, and yet the author, GoTime, is still here. Says something about how rudeness was taken back in the olden days on this site.)

I have absolutely no interest in getting into a debate over Ellen white as the bible is the standard of truth. But I will point out something here.

You have most obviously only read a small portion of Her work and that is fine, you don't have to read any of it. But She did indeed teach the finished work of Christ on the cross. She also taught that we were not under the law. She is known in our church as rebuking us for being so law focused and missing Christ and his finished work.

She also taught that those who put their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ do not enter into judgement but have already entered into life.

what you have done is read sparingly and ignored context and thus assumed her meaning.

Besides that point it really does not matter so much what she did or did not say. What matters is that the bible is being read and studied and that we walk according to every word that proceeds from God's mouth.

Blessings.

Hello Gotime

When I listen to the SDA people talk they will say over and over exactly what you said in your posting

However, when one is ''saved'' they are ''sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise'' . It is a DONE work.
When the SDA folks talk they always go on to say that IF you don't do the right CHOICE in the end time
"crisis" and you refuse to make the right choice at that time--- you are choosing to be a ''daughter of babylon'' and you are in BIG trouble

NO that is absolutely false and it is ''another gospel''

We are in the dispensation of Grace and God spoke unto us by HIS SON. Paul was given the ''mystery of the Church'' He was the apostle to the Gentiles.

When we do not ''rightly divide'' the Word we completely make a "hodge podge'' out of it and twist it
to our own destruction..
This is VERY important to not make a mess of the Word. YES, we can study all day long but to "rightly divide'' the Word is of utmost importance

Israel is the remnant that God will keep HIS ''everlasting covenant '' with. His ''gifts and callings are without repentance''' Praise HIS name

Gotime, I have never had a SDA person answer me about the Word of God in Gal saying that "the law in NOT of faith"
As believers we "live by faith'' . ONLY the Holy Spirit can make us into Christ's image so us keeping
the 10 does nothing for our faith.

Paul was given the ''mystery of the Church'''. He was the Apostle to the Gentiles. Yes, Jews and Gentiles can
be 'saved' now but God has a plan for the remnant of Israel. HE will keep HIS promises of the ''everlasting
covenant'' with HIS people of faithful Israel

"there is no other name, under heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved''

We cannot get to heaven by boasting about our church name or what we DO. It is ALL about
knowing HIM and what HE did for us

The difference it makes is the age of the post tells about how likely it is the person will respond to you.

Like walking down the street, saying Hi to someone, and then the following week, the person says Hi back. Funny, but not likely. Now look how many people have responded to GoTimes first post over the years. If you don't tell who you're talking to, (and most of us simply click "Reply with quotes" so people do know which post/comment we're responding to), any one of those people might think you were talking to them.

Now, since this was 5 years ago, it's something like hearing a conversation in a restaurant on tape, and thinking if you go to that restaurant 5 years later, and say what you wanted to say, everyone will respond. Some might, if they happened to have been in that conversation 5 years ago, and still come back to the restaurant, but it's not likely to work.

BUT, you're doing all right here anyway, because GoTime is still here and saw you responding. It's usually an exercise in futility, but it wasn't this time. So, good for you. I'm glad. Just wanted you to know in case no one did answer.

I get it's confusing when you first join a site. You don't even have to be 72. Just giving you a heads up on how it usually works, so you know. Really wasn't upset about it. Just consider me another person who just happened to pass the restaurant before you, and thought I'd explain in case no one answered.

Hi gotime,

I'm glad to see this thread concerning the SDA church. I have tremendous respect for SDA, although admittedly I don't necessarily share all of their beliefs (like, say, Saturday. And biblical wine was grape juice, etc.). I listen to a 3ABN radio station perhaps 20 hours per week. I enjoy several of 3ABN's regular preachers, and love Doug Batchelor's call-in bible question program.

I've read several Ellen G. White books, and I enjoy sifting through her writings on-line (that is, on-line at the website(s) containing a comprehensive collection of her writings). After all this, I can't for the life of me determine whether or not Ellen White was a prophet of God. Perhaps she was. Perhaps not. If not, she was incredibly insightful in her writings and bible interpretations. I look forward to reading more of her books and writings. (But I doubt if I'll get around to reading *all* of them. Has anyone?? lol)

Anyway, I've not read much of this thread. I'm looking forward to going back and reading through it.

Godspeed to you, sir!

What is there to be said to that? The law simply is not of faith, No decent SDA would say it is. Faith is in Jesus of which the law led us to. This was why God gave the law to show us our sin and guilt and get us to seek a saviour/Jesus. After this we are no longer under the law but under grace in Christ.

Blessings.

I have a question about SDAs. Do they believe in a pre-trib rapture followed by a seven year tribulation? And, do they teach the two peoples of God that Dispensationalism teaches?

William Miller and Ellen G. White are the rocks of false prophecy upon which

Seventh-Day Adventist heresy is based. Not the true and living Jesus Christ.

It is against the commandment of God to predict the day and the hour

for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Miller did that; White based some of

her teaching upon Miller's false prophecy regarding the second coming.

It's against God to create images of Him in likeness of anything, which would include a long haired men's hair shampoo model, but Mainstream Christianity does it anyway. They create an image, a statue of some long haired pretty boy, then slap the name of Jesus on it and plaster this image all over the world in direct disobedience to the First and greatest commandment.

Do you want to have a discussion about that? Would you like to discuss what Many catholic priests or Baptist preachers have been doing to little boys and girls for years? Do you want to be judged by their works. Would you like to have an open forum on the baby bones that are buried under nearly every Catholic monastery on the planet?

Shall I go find some ex-catholic church members who children has been molested by their infallible priests and use their testimony to judge your church?

I think not.

there isn't an organized Mainstream Christian church on this planet that doesn't have some garbage in their past. I don't belong to any of them, but the SDA past is angelic compared to the Great Universal Church. Do you really want to make this about a Mainstream Church history lesson?

This man came on this forum in a gentle, thoughtful manner to share his beliefs. If you don't agree with his churches teaching, fine. Bring the scriptures. But shouldn't you give this person the same respect you would expect from him.

That is your founding principle isn't it.

I cannot read through 42 pages of rudeness. I just can't take it. Sorry.

I read a book by Ellen once and very much liked it. There was little I disagreed with, but that's probably because it was mostly scriptures. In most paragraphs, it was scriptures, with very little exposition from her.

Nowhere in the book did she say Michael is Jesus. She may have said it in another of her books, I don't know.

Maybe I can try to go through the thread just skipping over the nasty posts...it is cumbersome but it strikes me that...it might be doable. Yes, I'll try.:)

It appears we have a conundrum...
I wouldn't exactly call it a conundrum...
It is difficult because our default is to maddeningly go back to the letter because we are very dull in spirit.

We know there is no life in the letter but in the spirit of the words. So we should always be trying to seek the spirit of the word and the law.

There is no problem with a man keeping the letter of the law by going to a gathering every once a week. The problem would come in if he does so while not keeping that law in spirit also. For example, to think he is obeying Gods law while worrying about say...losing his job and how he will feed his family, this is the worries of unbelievers, but we know that we aren't to worry but rest in His promise that He will provide.

So this anxious worry is a breaking of the true sabbath rest, while simultaneously, the man is thinking he is obeying the sabbath rest because he follows the letter.

So he is a bit lost in works and the letter because of his default switch that veers him back toward the letter, which is understanding humanly, but being dull on the spirit of the matter. But the Spirit will lead him to see more clearly.:)

This is a human thing. I believe when David went on and on about how lovely Gods laws were and pleaded for God to teach him His law, he had gotten the refreshment of the spirit, that amazing glimpse of how the law is spirit and truth.:)

I thought it was the JWs who claim that the archangel Michael is Jesus?

Okay I have read through page 10.
I take no fearful worry from anything the man has said through page 10.

While I am very skeptical of the belief that Michael is God, I see how he understands it and he has explained his belief with scripture. It is not the worship of angels or any such nonsense. It is a true belief that this angel is similar to the ones who came to speak with Abraham, which most or many Christians believe was God/Jesus.

Gotime, You completely lost the point in my posting.
I find most people dont even read the whole posting---they just read the first part and ignore the rest.

IF "the law is NOT of faith" and "the Just shall live by faith'' then keeping the law is not for
the Just.
When we ARE eternally ''saved' by HIS precious blood that completely cleanses us--and keeping the law is
not for the ''saved'. We please HIM by faith and walking by faith

Like I said in my other post---Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles and brought us the ''mystery of the Church"

God will keep HIS 'everlasting covenant'' with the remnant of Israel. The remnant is not any church

EarnestQ, You wrote your post in 2016 but the answer to your question about the rapture and SDA is, no.
The SDA folks deny the rapture that most evangelicals believe in. The rapture will happen soon

They do not ''rightly divide'' the Word so they mix up Mathew 24 with the rapture teaching. Mathew 24 is speaking to the Jews. IF a group mixes scripture up they do not see the Church truth and mystery that Paul gave us. The dispensation of Grace will end when the rapture happens and God will keep HIS ''everlasting covenant'' with the remnant of Israel. HE does not make promises HE will not keep
