Ok.

Not sure I fully agree. The only reason I post what I did and think it means is because

18:19, 20 This passage specifically refers to church discipline. It is a promise for guidance for the two or three who confront, and a promise for the church to claim wisdom and restoration for the erring brother. (NKJV study bible notes)

v. 16 is not as clear. The principle of witnesses is taken from Deut. 19:15, but what is it the witnesses attest? Evidently they witness that the offended brother is acting in good faith and the right spirit in attempting to work out a reconciliation. They also would be witnesses to any agreement. If this does not bring peace, the offended brother is to report it to the assembly. The church then is to do everything possible to convince the believer who has sinned to be reconciled or to right the wrong. If the erring one will not respond, that person is to be disciplined by being cut off from the fellowship. Such a loss would be extremely(NKJV study bible notes)
It is with this in mind that Jesus said the Father would grant the request of two or more who gather together in Christ’s name and are in agreement. Agreement on what? On disciplining the erring brother. That’s what this passage is about and yet so many Christians use it as though Jesus promises to answer their prayers when offered in certain situations.”
This doesn’t mean that Jesus doesn’t hear our prayers when we pray alone or with two or three people etc. …He does. But it means that this particular verse is not talking about Jesus’ presence in prayer, it’s talking about His presence in church discipline. (Tim Chaffey)
You could very well be right Bill. Also, as you have stated Jesus does in fact hear our prayers whether alone or in a group. Good research on your part in trying to determine what this verse is referring to.

I may be presuming every one Taught by the Spirit is prompted by the scripture.. so the message is the same.. different depths but same Truth.
I would say that anyone taught by Scripture is prompted by the Spirit, but then, you have called me names for conveying the Truth of God's Word.

Stephen,

To be honest and it may seem a bit weird but when I read posts like yours and others it makes me sad but also I think 'Why did God work it out for me and my mum but at the moment not you and your mum'

I am nothing special to deserve this. I don't know if you noticed but I never mentioned my Father.

I never knew him, only 2 memories. 1st being beaten up by the police when he broke into our flat, he went to hit her, she ducked and smacked me on the nose (still suffer with that) then seeing my step dad beat him up.

Anyway I encourage that whilst still alive there is hope.
I know you are a man who seeks after Gods heart and are led by him, therefore I am confident that you are being led concerning this situation.

Would you mind if I was to pray for you? Not here but as and when I remember to. (I can be quite forgetful so I can't promise to remember every day)

Don't worry about answering that question cause I am gonna do it anyway:cool:

Your brother in Jesus.
I'll never deny somebody praying for me. I can always use it.;)

I'm glad for you because what I went through wasn't a drop in the bucket compared to yours. Thank God yours is a happy ending.:D

Hi Sbg...Love this post because it is simply the truth:)...xox...
You have become very dear to us, Rosemary. You make me cry in happiness so often. :)
The truth is your flesh is very weak and you will fail every time.
The only way to NOT fail is to trust Him to keep you and finish what He started in you.

But the world, your own flesh and the devil want to take you from that trust and make you begin to think there is something you must do, even though you KNOW how weak and helpless you are.

It's a wile of the devil to hit our trust in HIM and get us back to thinking we can do anything.

If ANYTHING gets you to fear instead of trust Him more and more, just turn your back on it.

that thar is something we do agree on so why don't you and I just keep posts between us, should there be any, between us?

I'd be fine with that.

don't drag in or defend others. just one on one

and if not? just can't stand to not spank me? then let me be the bad child you seem to think I am :p

I'm easy on that. no sweat

I believe I will stick with what I wrote above that we are beings of choice "in the sense" in what we chose to believe but not all choices in believing are accurate.....:)..

Others are 'free" to dis-agree. All is well...:)
..

The Lord will be faithful to reveal Himself to all of us. He loves us dearly!

well

duh.......

those split molecules are getting to the point of going nuclear

you have said, straight to me, and I quote: 'you can believe WHATEVER you want'

you try to backpeddle so often it hurts to watch it

Calling out false teachers is not practicing lost love, I agree. I absolutely agree there are many false teachers.

But, love is lost in all the division intentionally created by false teachers and Satan

I believe that false teachers, teach falsehoods, to sow discord among the true believers

Do I have an answer to this. No

All I know is, once the Roman church kept truth hidden away from the masses and they lived and breathed in darkness.

Perhaps today this is the cost of each person having a bible?
Hi UG...I was just reading in Jeremiah 23 about what God is speaking concerning the false prophets, not sure if this would help you...I hope you are well my friend...I feel you are feeling a bit down, if so i ask the Lord to take your burdens, i really hope you are ok, you just seem a bit down in your post, not your normal positive self, if i am wrong then please forgive me...xox...

Well, you have just called people heretical, by way of saying they tread on heretical ground, so I am not sure how that negates what UnderGrace said. In fact, it affirms it, whether those others are here or elsewhere.

would you like some finger nail scrapings to prove your invention of culpability to go along with the nonsense above?

can we please just adult?

that is such a silly thing you have said that you would embarrass me for you if I knew you better :p

now I'm going to let it drop so feel free to go after me some more until you feel justified

glass houses are popping up at speeds that will shortly put an end to even the biggest heap of stones

what is the difference between a heretic and a brother or sister who lack understanding on an issue BASED on misinterpretation?

what is the difference between saying someone posts from an heretical site or calling someone a heretic and being told you called them one by proxy even though you didn't?

the difference is that an actual heretic has probably pretty much had Ichabod written on their forehead, but when I look at Paul, even though he was not technically a heretic, I would say God knows and can even bring such a one back to Himself

I believe most heretics started out on the right path

I actually do not believe we have heretics in this thread although there are most definately links providing access to heretical teaching

It's time for some "life" and joy in the thread.

Here is a great song that all of us in the body of Christ can sing together and grow in the grace of our Lord and loving Father.

You could very well be right Bill. Also, as you have stated Jesus does in fact hear our prayers whether alone or in a group. Good research on your part in trying to determine what this verse is referring to.
Thank you Tourist. I was just trying to out the verse in context but I do genuinely believe when two or more are gathered in corporate fellowship and prayer, praying according to the will of God then he hears our prayers. Whether it be for revival, healing and so on.

I also do feel that when I am sat praying by myself there are 2 people present, me and Jesus, 2 are gathered.
So in a sense I am not alone. Does that sound a bit whacky?

One thing I find confusing is when people meet together and start to pray I hear prayers "Holy Spirit please come amongst us"
But I think why pray that "Why not pray Holy Spirit we thank you that you are here please reveal to us the will of the Father"

Do I make any sense?

Once again thanks for you kind response.

people are not free to believe whatever they want

PLEASE once and for all

point us all to the scripture that identifies that statement as coming from God

you should be busy the rest of your life looking for it and you still will not find it

you can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time

God says CHOOSE but He meant between Himself or sin.

CHOOSE ye this day whom you will serve. KJV but says the same in any version

believe whatever you will sounds more like the serpent beguiling Eve...did God really say?

the light just actually blinds some ... some do not want to really hear the voice of God so they find a Moses

This is being decietful, and false, where do people think they can just come in and tear a persons post up twist what he said, and think that is ok, hen claim t be a follower of God?

Grace said people are free to believe what they want, based on free will, But it does not mean they are correct in what they believe,

and here you you are trying to discredit him based on a false pretense,

you should be ashamed.

you and some others here really should identify more with Christ and less with another human being

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.
Romans 1:16

defending false teaching such as the words of Christ are not all for us today is not something to be ashamed of

the shame belongs to those who teach it, preach it and believe it

obviously you and I should not talk to each other

oh wait. I wasn't talking to you to begin with

you too may rail on until you feel justification. I have a big Jesus umbrella

I have pretty much concluded it is actually a teaching platform for some who have no other outlet and when that teaching is refuted, well, names are called and people are called not Christian or full of malice and slander or even told not to post
This is exactly what is going on here, at least it is, in this thread.....

I would add, a very few might also be teachers or servant leaders held in very high regard and esteem at their local church, home church, small group, etc, because the small group leader or Pastor thinks they are the greatest....they and are never challenged on the doctrine they present and have status as spiritual superstar. They come here and are instantly challenged spiritually, intellectually and emotionally...Those who cry foul the hardest and say others do not walk in no love are the ones that probably fit this profile.....

The interesting things is that some of us in FT or even PT ministry that have been around for decades see this behavior all the time and what really makes these internet preachers upset is that...we can see right through them and their behavior...

You are very sweet. I am absolutely fine :)

I do agree, God does use false prophets and false teachers. I had the experience myself, the effect of a false teacher was outdone and undone by God when I searched and prayed for deeper, greater understanding.

God never ceases to amaze me how He can use difficult people, false teachers and difficult life circumstances for His Glory.
