Yes... correct. I am actually shooting a K-Hornet now, though. I started with an H&R single shot in the regular Hornet, and really liked it, but decided to get a Contender carbine. That one had a stainless 16" Hornet barrel that was just really, really accurate... but it was pretty loud.

I decided to get a barrel in the K version from Bullberry barrels, and have had that one ever since. Very nice little gun.
 
I have a 223 Contender Barrel that I have enjoyed using.
Funny thing, I swabbed it with a hi-tech lube and went shooting, it took about 20 rounds to get it to group again,
the lube did such a good job the bullet wouldn't take the rifling. I mentioned it to my gun smith and told me some shooters were running into that in their search for shooting perfection, our lubes have gotten so good now.

Sorry to dig up this dusty old thread, but I've been up to my eyeballs the last two days resaerching and shopping online for my next 'gun' purchase... :D It will be a Bolt SOPMOD full metal M4/AR15 replica with a BMC Keymod rail system and simulated recoil that they say feels similar to a real one shooting .22lr. :rolleyes:

Its the same as this one except with a longer rail, flip-up sights and no optics or vertical grip..

Glad you like it! :D My range is just my backyard lol. Its just an airsoft gun... but a very nice airsoft gun. I was looking at real AR15s though online and its so tempting to buy one but IDK, maybe someday....they are too expensive for me anyway. Airsoft guns cost less and the ammo is really cheap lol. Plus I am thinking of going to one of the airsoft parks they have here. :) What kind of gun/s do you have??
 
Right now there is a place in Abilene Tx that has DPMS AR's in .223/5.56 for $399. That's with a 16" light profile chrome lined barrel, quad rail, and flip up sights on the flat top rail.

If I had the discretionary fundage, I'd get one to set up strictly for home defense. I've been thinking about paying the tax and getting a suppressor for one. That would have to be the ultimate HD firearm.

I just bought a DPMS AR in 5.56 for $499. I had never seen them so low. It is the 16" barrel but not chrome lined. I had to supply the sights.

I've never seen these for less than $699 before so I jumped at this opportunity. Didn't think to look for an even better deal. This is my first AR and I really like it. Its like a souped up 22lr...
 
Every time this thread gets bumped back to the main page after sitting unused for a few months, it's a good reminder for me to go through the collection and clean/lubricate.

Yes.... I would love to be able to do that. I resisted the AR platform for a bunch of years, but once I finally bought one, I realized how much fun, and how useful they can be.

Anything from plinking to extremely precise paper punching, varmint hunting, home defense, even deer hunting, if ranges are kept close, and the proper bullet/load is used. And, if there is ever a need for service in a militia....
 
Man I just looked up what's needed to buy an AR15 in california. What a joke! 10-round mag capacity limit, fixed magazine, have to unpin and open the receiver to release the mag... :( :( :( That actually makes airsoft more fun (full-auto, 300+ round magazines, fairly realistic recoil, and you can shoot people with it).

Check out the recoil on this airsoft gun. At 40-second mark, with the "angry" recoil kit it kicks like a real AR firing 5.56 rounds...
The first part shows it without the "angry" kit, and it recoils like its firing 22lr.

Wow, that's actually cheaper than some airsoft guns! I'd look into it, but stupid cali laws I'm still trying to figure out. The only cali-legal AR's I've seen so far are at least $1k and they are featureless and have a funny looking grip and even funnier looking stock. But I just found out that rimfire rifles are exempt from the assault weapon law. Might look into an AR that shoots 22lr. :rolleyes: Still limited to 10 rounds though. -_- But at least it doesn't require a bullet button or those weird accessories.

Is that because there are limits on what "restricted" items you can have on an AR? In other words, as long as it's not a "collapsible" stock, you can have regular mags? If that's the case, I'd just get one of the original fixed stocks.... I sort of prefer them, anyway. I haven't had any use for a collapsible stock up to this point. The only benefit I can see to it is that you can put it in a shorter gun case to transport it.

I think there was something in the Federal Crime bill about a "protruding" grip and they may have copied that language
in their draconian legislation, the angled grip may be allowed.
